Default AA or Delta at this moment

Asking for a friend...

If you were a relatively new hire at AA right now, but also had a CJO from Delta, would you go or stay?

Commuting for the forseeable future. AA & Delta bases are equal commutes.

While I understand that a lot of the hostility over the APA/APLA merger and general *****ing on social media is from a small group of people... but man it's aggressive and paints a toxic picture at AA.

Anyway, asking for opinions from current mainline folks. Thanks

If the commute is the same I would personally pick AA. DL just announced a pull back in hiring, while AA is going full on still. A very large percentage of DAL’s list has been hired since 2014 (not going to guess for accuracy reasons, but I know it is a lot). AA hasn’t even reached its max retirements yet. Contracts are close enough imo. I’m sure there are things where DAL is better, I am sure things that AA has is better. Oh yeah, AA’s commuter clause is the best in the industry, so clearly important for you.

In regards to the hostility, that’s just noise. Some people have nothing better to do and will argue the color of the sky too. Just fly your trips and go home and enjoy your family.

if they ever want any seniority then AA. And for commuting since sounds like they’ll do at both, AA beats Delta for commuting.

They will get paid more at Delta despite supposed seniority progression and have a better chance of holding WB. That is a fact. The seniority progression difference won't make up for that. Plus Delta doesn’t have APA.

Maybe it’s not all about the money for everyone? Maybe that seniority is more important to get the time off they want quicker? Maybe the improved seniority gets you to a CA seat holding a commutable line faster at AA than DAL if $ is the #1 factor?

Also, how much more money do you realistically think you will make in say a 30 year career at both? It can’t be that drastic of a difference. You clearly have huge negative opinions of AA and always have all of the facts. I’m not going to get in a ****ing match with you here because I really don’t care, and don’t care enough to run some 30 year simulation to throw numbers around to look smarter than everyone.

If ImSoSuss were working for Delta, he'd be saying just the opposite. That dude would be miserable anywhere.

His/her age matters. It's going to take 20+ years to hit 50% at Delta. Maybe I'd say Delta if your friend is under 30. Otherwise, I think the choice is pretty easy.
