Just like in the military, any day I don’t have to put on a uniform or shave is a day off to me.
Stop worrying about what anyone else chooses to call their unworked reserve days. If you don’t want to call it a day off then don’t, if you do then do. Some of you bicker and whine more than my kids.

Sounds like you're either agreeing with me, or didn't at all read the post I quoted, and the one they were responding to in which they said, paraphrasing, "people consider unused reserve days off because they are".
I'll never argue that reserve can be a phenomenal QOL, but I'll never submit to the idea it's a day off. With reserve, days at home != days off.

Don’t give a flip how you categorize it, an unused 18-hour long call reserve day is not a day of work. No one is purposely mischaracterizing anything, or trying to dump on AA here. It’s just data points. Take them or leave them.
How much reserve gets used on average at various airlines is very pertinent to anyone asking the kinds of questions which started this thread. And the answers can and will change over time.

Reserve utilization heavily depends on bid status regardless of the airline. At AA it's also heavily dependent on seniority. DL reserves definitely fly more on average than AA reserves. My understanding is they also can't pick up premium (greenslips) unless they hit a certain amount of flying.
Personally, I think reserve at AA is the best of the legacies. But our system is changing in September so we'll see if that lasts.

If used wisely, banked PB days can result in an additional 5, 8, or even 10+hours of pay each, depending on fleet (by paying the block of the first day of a smartly-chosen trip, which on WB can easily exceed 10 hours). You wouldn't believe me if I told you how much one industrious WB pilot made cashing in 70+ PB days after 2022's GS-bonanza. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see a screenshot of the time card. A NB pilot banking 1 PB day a month can easily cash them in for an entire month's additional pay. Ask any DL pilot about PB days, and they will tell you they are one of the gems in our contract.
None of this is a flex. Just trying to add to a discourse in a thread partially about my employer. I have no doubt some parts of AA's contract are better, and good for you - we don't have anything like IMAX at DL, for example. I don't know nearly enough about reserve at AA to have an opinion about it either way. If you say AA uses reserves less often than DL, then I have no reason to call BS. How many days do NB and WB Reserves get used at AA? Include SC if you want.
Personally, I love Reserve at DL, even before we got 18 hour long call, and tons of soft pay in the new contract. Sure it comes with tradeoffs, and living in base helps (though I liked it enough to commute to WB reserve by choice). I work less and get paid more than almost any lineholder I know, and that guy genuinely hustles.
Boys, boys, they're not "days of work" and they're not "days off" either. If a reserve day at home was the same as a day of work pilots would always just yellow slip a trip, because hey, it's the same as "work" amiright? That they don't gives away the ghost.
By the same token, a day on reserve isn't fully a day off either. Cause you can't be in Tahiti with your phone off.

Anyone stating something like “oh, I average 20-22 days off and am making 85-90 hours” but failing to mention that they are on reserve and pickup extra time on days off, is a clown…
i have worked like 8 flights this year but I’m not going to say “ohh i average 28-31 days off and make 45 hours of pay a day” without adding some important details
