AA or Delta at this moment

Now, first of all, there is no mission. I'm not a way fwd leaning mish hacker. But, little things go a long way.
Don't forget, we've been paying down beaucoup debt, have the youngest fleet, our debt is cheaper debt, and we are opening new markets, albeit small, and have the XLR on the horizon. The next 3 years are going to be interesting and hopefully get us to a better place.
But look at me...being optimistic and enjoying my job...what a schmuck

Ive been here just over a year and based in 3 different bases (PHL, PHX & DFW). I’ve enjoyed every Captain I’ve flown with (even the unique ones are generally fun to chat with). I’ve gotten along with 99% of the FAs and gate agents. I can only think of once when a gate agent gave attitude about something.
Not trying to pass judgement, but maybe the issue isn’t AA. Do you honestly think it would be sunshine and lollipops somewhere else?

My Mainline experience has been wildly different from the WO. Haven’t heard a peep about delays, added fuel, getting all the non revs on. I also have learned to understand we aren’t actually the center of the universe. There’s a lot more going on behind the scenes then the one voice on Ops frequency.
I also don’t understand why so many people slam AA and blow things out of proportion trying to compare it to DL or UA. Especially the ones who have been hired there recently. There is not much of a substantial difference between the work groups at legacies. People act like one airline has an attitude of IDGAF, but the other airline performs stellar-like as if they’re the blue angels or something. There’s not some staggering difference guys.
I’ve ridden on AA jumpseats many many times and all the crews seem very happy and many have actually told me they like AA. 99 % of them seem way happier than crews at my regional.
Regarding passengers experiences with different airlines, I’ve heard several times from passengers in terminals over the last couple of years saying they are “never flying delta again.” Could AA and the WO’s do better? Yea definitely but it’s not doom and gloom like it was in the last days of pan am in 91. Not even close. There is definitely a real world version of AA, and then there’s the internet version of what AA is all about.

My goal was to not commute and that's why I went with American, but after being here 6+ months I'd rather commute to Delta.

There a lot of young people who’ve entered the industry over the last few years, many of whom have no idea what a “down market” looks like. Yes, COVID was a wrinkle, but the result overall was temporary and many didn’t even see a furlough, in what was probably the most significant economic collapse in 100 years. True hard times are a 40% cut and/or 5-10 years of furlough.
Another lesson to learn is from the SWA folks. Everyone has their turn in the barrel, and SWA was long the darling who could do no wrong. But the bat comes for everyone at some point, and their relative noise comes from the fact that this is their first time around.
The bigger point is that there isn’t a nickle’s worth of difference between DAL, AA, UAL or SWA at this point. The time where someone could sharpshoot was, as always, very brief. Some got lucky, others, not so much. At this point, best not to worry about it and just hunker down and ride till the end.

This is 90% of jobs in the US. There are some really crappy jobs, and there are the few unicorns, but that is usually short lived. I just got my invite to join the Gray Eagles (F me) so I'm old enough to have friends at all the legacies and LCCs and Fractionals and lots of other places. If someone isn't content here, they aren't going to be content at another legacy. They're just going to exchange one set of problems for another. Perhaps they just aren't suited for airline flying.

Hey kids, been here 2 years now..after 3 regionals 1 Fractional and a ULCC
I know AA has its issues (so did DL in the early 2000's) but as someone who goes for QoL over anthing. It's been amazing, hands down the best job I've ever had. Yes, I live in base(30 minutes from DFW) and most likely will stay in the right seat till I hold WB ( I refuse commute for an upgrade or WB, even though I'll hold Upgrade in DFW in less than 2 years) and I already scratched that itch to be an airbus CA while at the former ULCC.
My .02...find where you want to live and pick the Legacy that has a base. FULL STOP. Everything else is BS. Enjoyl
edit: when Pilots and FA's complain about "stuff" I tell them what occured at the ULCC's...they literally don't belive me.
