Reference the hiring stats on AA pilots. 15% of wholly owned pilots starting at AA this year so far have been hired outside of the flow.

So far this year? So that's like 2 pilots?

*Laughs in 500hr Republic FO hires* No they don't... they place emphasis on PIC metrics for their WO pilots that give them ample excuse not to hire them in order to save their in house feed, while hiring plenty who don't have much if any PiC from their competition... just like UAL and DAL...

7 “outside of the flow” hires out of 232 total hires thus far is not 15%…

Not saying AAL doesn’t hire plenty with zero TPIC but “500hr Republic FO hires” or any hire with low turbine time occurs fairly less at AAL compared to DAL and UAL. That’s why we don’t have six 23 year olds at American while United supposedly had six 23 year olds in a single NH class that runs weekly.

AAL does place more emphasis on TPIC.

Jeez for how nitpicky some of you are, your reading comprehension is garbage.

They said 15% of WO new hires this year came outside the flow. There were 47 WO new hires so far, 7 were outside the flow.

7/47 = 0.148 = 14.8%

Y’all done now?

Point is that nobody said that AA has totally stopped the hiring outside flow. The point is that AA has dramatically decreased that number since the hiring boom started late 2021. You hear the word "throttled" and that absolutely applies here. People who think it is easy for a flow to get hired outside it are in for a big surprise. But yes it still happens to a lucky few.

This was the post that started it and as usual people quickly responded without reading it carefully

From what I've been able to gather, wholly owned pilots have been able to circumvent the flow, to a degree, if they have a job offer in hand from UAL or DAL. They can take that job offer to AAL and essential give AAL last right of refusal before bailing to the competition. How often this happens, and with what degree of success? No clue.

But there are avenues...
