That's precisely who you'll want representing you. Oversight from national and UAL/DAL pressure will ensure that mainline pilots aren't stapled or otherwise screwed.
APA will give management whatever it wants, and throw your career expectations under the bus in the process.

As far as I can tell APA has historically done a fabulous job ensuring AA pilots came out on top in mergers. Is there an event I’m unaware of that I should know about?
Also it can’t be both ways. In This thread I’ve been called out for not wanting alpa because APA has no oversight and also been told not wanting alpa is the same as not having faith in my current union leadership because even with ALPA it’s still our people.
I’m not seeing a good argument against APA representation for a merger with the WO. I see lots of potential issues with ALPA merger policy and that process has had lots of failures over the years.

The ALPA merger policy changed after the USAir AmericaWest merger. Since then, its been relatively smooth sailing.

I don’t agree. I’ve watch ALPA screw over pilots many times in the last 25 years.

Self-solution. Doesn't work? Then mediation-arbitration.
It's not complicated.
