Better seniority = better trips = more desireable for others to pick up. It's a way senior guys create open space in their schedule to chase premium pay.
Doing it as a junior guy? Hahahha. Good luck.

Those that have been here for a while in their AA shell don’t have that perspective so they think this is industry norm. With the massive hiring that has been done we have more and more people coming here every day who knows it is not. They come from airlines that have found a way to have PBS, more schedule flexibility for everybody, while still honoring seniority. This is done by hiring more pilots, creating more opentime, and putting limits on what the company can do.
This is why you had so many pilots that are mad at the union for not addressing this during the most pilot leveraged contract this industry ever seen. It is also why you have such a strong push to abolish APA and bring in ALPA. APA did not listen to many in this pilot group.

This has been my point all along. Whereas other airlines have created ways for junior folks to have more schedule flexibility while always still honoring seniority, at AA schedule flexibility comes from seniority and seniority ALONE. AA is by far the most “You’ll be senior someday, Son” airline out there right now and it is not even close.

Come to AA if you want the bases and/or attrition.
If you want lifestyle and money, be willing to live in one of UA/DL's cities or commute.

Simple question, I think.
If you have reserve coverage, can you drop all your trips back to the company unpaid, and go to zero credit?
Not drop them to another pilot, but drop them back to the company? And go to zero hours credit without using any type of bank?
If so, can you do this month after months without restriction?

Actuall, this January there are Zero Time lines that are exactly that; No assigned flying and no reserve days. The pilot may elect to pick up trips or not. This is a Contract 23 item.
As with vacations for all but the top 10% and Vacation Float Proffers, expect to see these in Jan/Feb only. It will be a rare bird until attrition slows...which to say a long time....
