I think pilots were getting into trouble with the company because company tools(scum of the earth) would send screen shots to mgmt. RLA stuff. Maybe some harassment. They claim, and it's probably true, that they were spending a lot of resources defending pilots in hearings because of The Line. That is, however, their job. I suspect that a lot of those hearings were from Facebook or other social media and were lumped in with The Line.
APA also got hit with some "official" pushback on censorship issues when moderators would remove stuff. Particularly from one very senior very well respected pilot.
The final straw was probably self preservation because a lot of card drive talk was happening. They suppressed threads titled "card drive" or something similar but the topics inside other, unrelated-to-card-drive, threads were most likely too much to keep up with. So they went nuclear and shut the whole thing down under the guise of "protecting pilots." They weren't going to allow that information delivery source to stick around.

There was also coordinated targeting against individuals who argued against the contract during negotiations. Some of which was bordering on menacing harassment. The boomers only had one thing in mind, their retros.

No. I never once saw anything like that. Some political stuff but 99% are conservatives anyway. No one(not many) to argue with.

It needed moderators, but that was controversial, so 🤷♂️.

There was grossness both for and against the deal, just like there was grossness against vaccines and for vaccines, against Trump and for Trump, against Biden and for Biden, etc, etc, etc. There were super gross retired pilots (one in particular was so over the top, he was highly entertaining, if not a bit scary in his thought process), super gross current pilots.
