The corruption and ALPA hate runs deep here. Ask any prior TWA guys their opinion, it'll make for a long trip.

The handling of the APA/ALPA merger committee with their recommendation and the constant push by those at the top to keep ALPA away is really all the evidence anyone needs to see why APA needs to go, or needs reform and tighter rules. APA leaders are addicted to the power, not what is for the best of the pilot group.

There is a fair amount of pilots who want to explore options and hear both sides, and by APA not listening to the pilot group and denying the existence of the card drive until recently, it shows how disgruntled and ununified as a pilot group we are. People just want the ability to vote and not be told what's "best" for them.

Anyway, there's a lot of really good things that APA does for its members, because it really is just looking out for us. But that's also not great in other areas like stated above... lobbying, politics, bigger war chest for negotiations, etc.

At least it's not a card drive for Teamsters.

Oh yeah also, give it another few years when the "eff you, I got mine" crowd retires.

“eff you, I got mine”?!?! Really? I was hired in 1989 under the B-Scale. We fought like hell to get rid of that era AFTER we were off it…read for your benefit! I was furloughed in my 13th year for four years. I was caught up in the merger with America West whereby I was to be stapled below their most junior pilot period. I had 5,700+ pilots who had been on the property as much as up to nearly ten years put ahead of me for the merger between American and Usairways. Imagine starting your tenth year here and being sent back to indoc-with everyone hired since being placed ahead of you! Under ALPA I lost my defined retirement plan-surrended by ALPA without a fight nor a membership vote-for the PBGC minimum (totally mismanaged by ALPA). Now ALPA has opposed raising the retirement age to 67 (something many of you may very well need down the road-as I do now). I now am heading for the exit in the mid to low 3000s on the seniority list-after 35 years with the airline. ALPA was never the answer to these challenges within my career. And I would caution against the notion that was then and this is now. Careful of what you wish for with ALPA-you just might get it. How’s that sound for I got mine?!?!

If you've spent 35 years at a legacy carrier and still "need" two more, that's not on ALPA—it's on you. Enjoy your retirement.

Thats an ignorant statement. With research you’d learn that we (those of us hired in the late 80s at usair) never really made that much money. Until recently.

I’ll be honest, you had my sincere sympathy and understanding up until this point.

Card drive failed. Starting to look like to me that the pro ALPA team is just as sleazy as some in APA. Obviously not enough of us want ALPA yet.

ohh, it's been shut down already? Over with? Didn't hear that part. Until that happens it hasn't failed. Printing off more cards to leave in the cockpit as I type this.
