I'm looking forward to the representation election and casting my vote against the APA.

What is the case for ALPA? I have seen little to no information on “why ALPA”? It looks like they crapped the bed at FedEx and the bargaining for UAL resulted in a recall of their negotiating committee. So how is ALPA “better”?

Before you reflexively say APA Stan, I’m an average line pilot wondering why my dues should go up .8%.

Because ALPA represents a vast majority of the airline pilots in the USA and Canada. They are the 800 lb gorilla on the back of the industry. They have the resources and the war chest and the political influence to get things done. Like killing Age 67 or killing single crew cockpits. Their reputation fighting for aviation safety is second to none. Nobody in DC cares what an independent union thinks. Right now we don't have a seat at that table.

Negotiations at individual companies are done by their independent MEC with ALPA resources like legal and financial analysis backing them up but if their contract sucks they only have themselves to blame. The alpa resources available to them are magnitudes more vast than anything we have.

So your argument starts with lobbying? Ok. Not in my top 10 concerns because ALPA national will still be there advocating with or without us.

The second part is more “resources”. Define that. What “resources” is APA lacking?

Lastly, your argument for “why ALPA” is local MECs crap the bed, so yeah, that’s fine? Wut?

I'm not going to waste time debating on a forum with an APA lackey. I doubt many pilots opinions will be swayed by anything said here.

We'll get the chance to vote and the chips will fall where they fall.

Ahh, there it is. So you are asking a pilot group to uproot an organization that directly impacts: medical, disability, pay, grievances, and a myriad of other areas and you can’t offer basic “this is why one is better than the other”? Oh, I forgot to include an almost doubling of union dues.

With the reduced footprint of The Line, why isn’t this the appropriate place to stake your claim?

You can post “lol” but I’m not sure you understand that the burden of throwing out one union for the another with a higher cost structure and a focus that isn’t solely on a single pilot group like APA is on you.

Again, line pilot. Zero union activity. Just state your case.
