The good news is they'll have 3, 4, 5 years before they'll be able to bid 777. By then they should have figured out "this is probably not a good idea" when it comes to commuting to SC reserve. Give up very nice n/b seniority to bid 777 SC reserve? Some will do it but a lot will say "no thanks."

I guess it’s a bit sobering when many of us work to get here and a lot of that motivation comes from Widebody options. Yet when you get here you find out its not worth it in most cases and you become a NB FO for your career.

You've been here 6 months. Look at the age of all of the wide body CAs and FOs. Things haven't really started moving.

You started flying in 2017 or 2018 @ PSA and are upset you aren't a line holding widebody pilot at a legacy five years later?

What are you going to retire here? Do the math on the longevity/seniority calculator on AA pilots and you can somewhat predict when you could hold wb as FO.

If this is your attitude now when things are about as good as they can be....yikes.

Sobering?. WB is there. It ain’t going anywhere. Just chill and be patient. So you either hold it right away or you’ll be NB for life? Damn

Does the NYC base still include Newark, and if so, on both 737 and 320?

"It's not worth it in most cases." Several years ago 91% of the senior Captains were on the w/b's. 89% of FO's. Obviously they think it's worth it. There's about 10% that try it and don't like it. Kind of matches the 10% of CA/FO's among the top 1000 in each seat that don't bid w/b. Interesting from Nov 2023 only 70% of the top 1000 CA's are bidding w/b's and 86% of the top 1000 FO's are bidding w/b's. The A320 is favored over the 737 - CA's 18% vs 12%, and FO's 9% vs 5%. Now among the top 1000 CA's and FO's (2000 total) 78% bid the w/b.
