Any of you beard guys get that the company just doesn’t want to deal with any more BS?
tattoos, long hair, face piercings etc. beards are just the tip of the iceberg.

I’ve flown abroad many, many years and the way American pilots are being seen worldwide in terms of appearance is the worst.

I’ve heard so many times, specially from European pilots: why are American pilots so lazy, obese, their uniform is always dirty, shirt always wrinkled, such a lack of good sense and self esteem?

It’s really embarrassing to answer those questions. Totally a shame.

And now, honestly, they say that a shaved face shows a “good professionalism”? Come on… just bizarre!

I have friends flying for Swiss Airlines who wear a beard and probably are the best “good looking pilots” in terms of dress code/uniform/weight… so are those pilots unprofessionals because of the beard they wear? Bull****. Period.

Furthermore, I’ve never seen flight decks so dirty like the ones we have in this country. It’s a shame for us. We gotta change our mindset. We definitely CAN be better.

And for God’s Sake, authorize the beard for pilots, let’s focus on what really matter. Obesity, a clean and good looking uniform, clean shirts and so on…

The rest of the world seems to handle it just fine. We are the outlier.

They have to draw the line before they get into the Sam Brinton realm... it's actually more about security for the pax luggage than anything else.

We can’t handle things without beards. I’m not a fashion guru but, buy stuff that fits, tuck it in..ETC.

FWIW, at DL mgmt quietly made it known the decision to allow beards had been considered, risk-analyzed, and rejected. No beards at DL in the foreseeable future.

That it made it that far at DAL is comical....

DAL was one of, if not the LAST to come out of the stone age on JS'ing back in the day.

To think they'd even look at something others were looking it very forward thinking on their part.
