Well, better lucky than good, but you have to be smart enough to capitalize on what fortune brings your way.

But that didn’t mean the mediator said, “you better give them a bunch of gains or else!”

We got the contract we did because our union representation aren’t a bunch of clowns like APA.
Oh look, another bad take by you.

I don't endorse the 'clown' comment, but In this particular case, ChrisReed is absolutely correct on how the DL deal happened, and you are incorrect.

Give credit where it's due.

Speaking of not knowing what a pilot is talking about, how is that AA bankruptcy coming along?

Hopefully never? During Covid it seemed very likely. Management was talking about it. Industry experts were talking about it. ALPA National’s EF&A were talking about it. If the government hadn’t stepped in AA would have been in Ch 11 within months and the rest of the industry wasn’t far behind. Thankfully we’ve seemingly moved past that period now.

It isn’t by some divine providence that yours (and others) positivity was manifested into reality. The whole industry got lucky. Incredibly lucky.

You are ok lagging your peers? That makes no sense.
pattern bargaining means pulling your weight and raising the bar. Not just being deadweight.

Default Quality of life?

I thought we were bargaining for an increased quality of life and more scheduling flexibility.
I see no clear path in this proposal to better scheduling flexibility at all.
Right now there is absolutely no trip trading at all in my bid status. None.
Narrowbody Captain above 50 %.
Giving up 5:15 per day to split duty trips is also not an improvement in quality of life. It is a huge concession.
All leading to a strong no vote for me.

I've actually gotten on board with the split duty thing after a couple different aspects were explained to me by different SMEs. I still don't want to do them but there could possibly be a benefit with relatively little(I think) downside if it doesn't end up working out the way the union forsees.
