It’s more about this guy/gal received an invite for an interview they probably would have received months ago if they kept updating. Probably not something to gloat about, they gave up hundreds of seniority numbers over not keeping their application current.
It’s why they tell you to update your application monthly if you’re an FO (SIC), weekly if you’re a CA (TPIC).

I flew with someone involved in the interview process at DAL recently. This topic sort of came up randomly and apparently after a few months of not updating your application it gets pulled away from the scoring pile. Randomly and maybe once or twice a year Pilot Hiring will take a look at the pile of applicants not being scored to see if they can find anyone that should have been pulled from the system if they had continued to update. This has been happening with most airlines more recently due to desperation for candidates that meet their high standards.
