Good luck to the AA pilots. You have a long fight ahead to ditch APA and bring in ALPA. APA is going to fight you tooth and nail.

I'm surprised no one posted this yet:

Comes across as petty IMO.

He’s not wrong. The APA agreement is inferior to Delta’s contract in the majority of sections. The other sections are basically just matching. It used to be no one wanted to go first because everyone else would go next and leapfrog. For the last 15 years, it seems like Delta raises the bar, then everyone else just matches.

I still don’t understand why United isn’t in mediation.

Yep, our AIP is embarrassing. The laughingstock of the industry. Will be even more so when United passed Delta then the snap up clauses take place and we are sitting way behind because.....we have no freaken snap up clause cause we are American.

Delta ALPA expended millions during the course of the negotiations to secure the current PWA. And APA comes along and doesn’t raise the bar one bit, they just essentially copy/paste and run to their pilot group to show off what they “accomplished”. And to make it worse, no thanks were given to DALPA. Quite the opposite in fact, they very specifically structured the pay rates for American pilots so as not to trigger a pay bump for the Delta pilots. So ALPA is petty? Right.

Lol what does APA care about what DALPA expended? We all knew Delta would lead the pack, and it was their choice to do so. And of course AA wouldn’t structure the pay rates to trigger a bump for their competitors. That would be the last thing they’d want.

That makes no sense … it has nothing to do with Delta being a competitor … in fact raising a competitors expenses actually serves American better. And what’s with the “we all know Delta would lead the pack” defeatist mentality… all majors should be “rowing” together. It was just American pilots again not raising the bar for the industry and Ambrosi pointing it out is not petty. This industry has always patterned up and down with contracts. Again … American leapfrogs on the down cycles and doesn’t match on the upward contract cycles. It’d be nice if we all worked together … especially on an upward contract cycle because we never know when it’ll end. If APA membership accepts this tactic, so be it but no one should be offended when it’s pointed out.

It’s a lot harder to work together when you’re the odd duck represented by a completely different labor organization than the other 2 legacy airlines. APA is your problem. Plain and simple.

I can picture APA in negotiations:

APA: Delta has a snap-up clause. We want that.

AA: I’ll do you one better. We’ll structure your pay so your tied with Delta as the highest paid hourly rates in the world and we’ll structure it so Delta’s snap-up doesn’t kick in thus keeping you as the highest rates for now.

APA: Okay. Sounds good since we have 0 leverage since we haven’t even filed for mediation yet.
