We only hired the lawyer because the application process was a bit more complicated than we thought it should be and thought we might be doing something incorrectly or missing something important detail (this was also before most people had computers and there wasn’t much of an internet so research meant reading documents given to you by government beaurocrats or talking to a lawyer).

I’d recommend doing your own research which includes stories from people in your own situation, fill out the correct forms, pay the fees, and wait the process out. Skip the expensive lawyer, he’s really not even going to save you a lot of time… it’s not that difficult to learn today.
I have talked to a few lawyers and friends who have obtained their green cards, and they said that if I do this while working in America, things will be easier. Even though I have lived in America for 5 years, I can't understand why I'm having so much difficulty finding a job.

Yes, I am currently flying on a B737 in Turkey and my contract will end in October. Qatar Airways had laid me off due to Covid.I have a valid visa to live and work in the United States, but I haven't told anyone that I live in the United States. I lived when I was in MBA and Flight Training

… go work in Spain if you don’t like …. Oops. You need to have a right to work in EU… that’s Xenophobic.
And I still get BS from certain people because I have an accent. So yes, there's xenophobia at AA, usually from the crowd that watch a recently sued news network.

And guess what? You wanna fly for an airline in Mexico and/or other LA countries? In many of those countries you need to be born in that country to hold a commercial or ATP.

Some airlines like Cathay have/had foreign bases you could bid. Some cargo airlines don't care where you live when you get positive spaced wherever your freighter is.

The biggest thing is don't let them insecure haters f you over. There's a reason they are haters.

I do have an accent, born and raised in Spain, lived there for 25 years, and moved to the US 12 years ago. There's no xenophobia in this country, just a few or may be quite a few ignorant-arrogant idiots, but that is such a minority. I lived in Germany for 3 years, as a European myself!, and THAT was legit xenophobia lol.
Whenever any brilliant mind decides to make a comment about your accent, you stop them right there and ask them how many languages they speak, that's it, done. If that person is not professional or shows no manners at all, then you call flight standards, come on now, it's 2023, race and gender are weapons haha.

You accuse people of being xenophobic and closed-minded yet you pointed your finger at a couple of million people for watching the recently sued news network. I watch it, and also CNN and others, to compare and try to be less misinformed, so? Idiots exist left and right, not just right my friend.

I suggest you work on your reading comprehension before you put some words in my mouth a certain way.

Come to AA and be based in Miami. Half the guys have foreign accents. And half the guys who don’t have foreign accents, well their wives/husbands or girlfriends/boyfriends have accents. At AA, I’ve flown with pilots from Greece, Germany, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Canada, Australia, UK, France, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba and more. I’ve met pilots here from many other countries. If you are cool, nobody will have a problem with your country of origin and most people will think it’s cool. If you’re a d-bag, then it won’t matter where you are from, people won’t like you.

I lived in Europe for a few years. I was completely shocked at how racist and xenophobic those people were. Just small little differences would cause whole groups to hate each other. And I went there thinking those people were very liberal. Well, they were to an extent (nobody liked to work and wanted support from government welfare programs) until it came to mixing with people of different races and beliefs. Going to blame a "recently sued news network" for that too? GTFO, stick to Reddit.
