New hires to WB?

I have several friends at UAL/DAL that have been there a good number of years and aren't wide body captains. There's a reason for that. Why do Delta and United have rapid movement to wide bodies? Well...... part of the reason is that airport reserve and 4 legs a day el suckos.

Nobody on the 330/359/764 is doing 4 legs a day. It’s junior because there are a dozen new WBs coming every year, on top of fallout from the VEOP retirements and widebodies being short staffed from COVID era domestic flying. 764 alone has doubled the number of FOs in under a year.

What are your widebody trip lengths like? That could drive it. Since I live in base, I won't ever allow myself to have a TAFB longer than about 60 hours (and 36 was pretty standard for me in the 737). When I went to the 777, that was one of the things I looked at - the TAFB of the widebody trips. We do have a few trips with longer stretches away from home, but those get picked up by guys that want an extended stay at the destination. If I knew that the 777 would have me on trips longer than ~60 TAFB, I would have stayed on the 737.

Not sure how anyone would read that as delineating between the two, especially when the former/latter respective syntax doesn’t match.
Again, no WB is doing 4-leg days at Delta. The 757 does, which is in a combined category with the 767-300, separate from the 767-400. No 76’s are doing 4 leg days. And there is no such thing as airport reserve at Delta.

Many of us expect the next few bids to go back to “normal” seniority distribution.
