This is in no way helpful for this discussion, but you guys are cracking me up complaining about the traffic. Come to DC and see some real traffic.

I’m honestly trying to think of another AA base that does not have worse traffic than CLT.

No thanks.

It's all relative, isn't it?

Quote for Truth.

I spend most of my time in South Park these days, but still make plenty of trips up to the Lake.

Anyone commuting into CLT from Tennessee? I know Johnson City is under a three hour drive on a good day (I don’t mind that). What about those of you flying in from TYS? Is it fairly open? Does the JS go quick

thanks

I70 to the Rockies was much worse than I25 late Friday-Saturday. I don’t miss those Cali to Denver transplants going “off roading”. If Miami’s worse than that… I can’t imagine haha.

Yeah it’s not so much how bad the traffic is, and it’s terrible…..,but the type of driver you find down here.
MIA is an awesome base, that’s the good part.

Keep in mind TYS was a PSA base and as such would have a higher number of commuters than normal from a small outstation.

I currently have a 2:40 drive to CLT but normally elect to fly (I do have 11 flights a day). I drive every now and then and it's pretty brutal - I cannot image doing it weekly. Even doing 3x 5-day trips. I would consider against long term planning of a drive like that. Budget another 0:20 for the employee shuttle.

I-95 is pretty terrible, but I’d argue I-4 is worse. I-4 is the terrible mixing bowl. It’s the inhuman combination of Southern obliviousness, Midwestern “too nice so I’ll stop traffic to a highly dangerous fault because we’re polite in my home state”, Caribbean lawlessness (though I have to admit many are objectively good pilots of their crafts in so far as they’re highly skilled at pointing their vehicles where they want them to go), and New England aggressiveness. Oh and the geriatrics, many (maybe most) of whom should no longer drive. Only saving grace with them is they're only there half the year.
