So yes, if you're a junior commuter who's not senior enough to get LC, you can get stuck with SC for the month.
exactly. I’m going to DC 73 CA and August bottom 5 were all LC because there’s enough senior folks wanting SC. 6 from bottom was already a LH. Looking at Sept 3XP bottom 2 were SC then LC. LH is so junior in DCA 73 because RSV, (SC) is wanted by senior folks. It is a small base though. 75% are LH 25% RSV

Ive held a line every month since taking the junior upgrade because senior guys would rather hide on reserve. This is the first month after a year where I actually can hold a line by seniority

base and equipment dependent obviously

You might see that change and get forced back to reserve. September is the first month that the new reserve system where buckets and reserve days worked trumps seniority when trips are assigned. I suspect that the end result is that the entire reserve system will start going more junior as senior pilots start bidding lines.

Reserve went senior in September. Junior folks are going to fly every day, and senior folks will be awarded Pass All until there's a meltdown.

except...seniority actually trumps everything in the new system, senior guys will work the least. Yes during the transition, some senior guys will sit back and watch for a month or two.

RDW is only factored during assignments outside DOTC. Everything is first run as an award, in seniority order, first. Then, if needed, RDW is factored, again, only in runs outside DOTC. Plus the new RAS seq solutions favor a senior pilot.

Folks used to gripe about if you were senior and got a 3 day because you were in Group 2 over a junior guy in group 3 who was QLA. Well, you've flown less so, you're getting it first. And that wasn't limited to outside DOTC. You'd just get JM'd right off the bat in DOTC.

Dont get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the old system, but I think RAS will actually be better. I agree it may go senior after the shoulder months and seeing how it is going, especially SC since they really emphasize SC last and only in bucket to the max extent. The logic even options to fly a LC into DFP prior to using a SC.

RAS training yesterday was helpful. Suggest you go back and watch the recording.

Agree. I loved our current system and was vehemently against RAS until I learned the “pass all” award nuance yesterday. I’m very junior, but I appreciate the fact that seniority means something in RAS, and over time QOL should get pretty dang good for a SC as their seniority improves. Time will tell, but AA reserve still has potential to be industry best IMO.

Is the training available on the allied pilots website now?

This is actually terrible. Being junior on LC is bad enough without this. Praying they start hiring again soon because I got worked every day in August up to my limit with multiple redeyes. The only thing that would be worse is working into DFPs.[/size]
