That's the funniest thing I've read all day. Are you reading this Al?
Waaay back in the '80's when I was in college and my airline of choice was hiring only deregulation pilots, I talked to the Navy and Air Force. They didn't exactly laugh, but...
Mission hacker? No, I just expect that if I put my family on an airplane the crew acted like professionals and used all available resources prior to showing up to work.
Safety and contracts should not cross.

He/she/it is a CKA.
FWIW, every single CKA I’ve discussed this topic with don’t agree with R57 at all. They all found the implementation to be nothing short of a debacle, not to mention a clear way to avoid paying the pilots.

My biggest issue was with the sheer scope of the changes. As said here many times, it was too much too suddenly.
With that said, let me ask - have any of you guys who say I don't learn something on behalf of the company unless I'm being paid (fupm) ever sit down and study or review systems, the AOM, or the FOM while at home or elsewhere? Do you folks really only ever open the book while on company time? Always?

I didn't make a statement about the changes or the rollout, just the thought of not reviewing changes prior to reporting for duty.

Doing a walk around is part of operating the acft. I’ve already learned AA’s procedures for my acft(which I was paid to do). If they want me to re-learn anything then I should be paid. I don’t do this for fun. It’s a career. The company fights tooth and nail to uphold their end of the contract and to pay us the the least possible amount of money and squeeze out every ounce of productivity. We should be fighting just as hard in the opposite direction.
This is a camel nose. You not being able to understand that is part of why we are walked all over daily by the company.

There was thought about spreading the changes over a longer period. But when that was done previously there were more extensive changed-and people complained. They other issue was that some changes crossed several phases of flight.
I think an extra DL, with a day's pay, would have settled things.
