Close Call at JFK

The issue here is that you Delta boys just can't resist getting involved. Just like your asinine guard policing. You guys over on your page b1tch and p1ss and moan about your company constantly, way more than any others here (you have the most active group on APC) but if anyone anywhere says anything less than Delta is the best Air Line, y'all come out of the woodwork to dog pile them. Sometimes that's funny to watch. Maybe it's mild trolling, but the easy answer to that is stay in your own yard and don't worry about what the neighbors think of you if you truly think you're better than them. You get the industry reputation you deserve when you act like that. Which is why only a certain kind of pilot wants to go work there. Your culture is self perpetuating. Just stop it.

Who's trolling? I see at least 5 Deltoids over here, including you, on the AA page defending the family honor or some nonsense. I'd only be trolling if I were stirring crap on your page, which I'm not. All I said is that taking off on the HUD is a stupid policy that should be looked at. And yes, I realize AA does it too. Doesn't make is less stupid.

I'm not really interested in reading the pizzing contest of this thread, so this might have been asked already, but do AA pilots turn on all the lights before crossing an active runway? Not throwing stones, just asking if that is your policy.

Illuminating all exterior lights when crossing runways has never been a thing here at AA. I couldn’t believe it when I came here from my previous regional, where it was almost a check ride bust not to illuminate when crossing. But believe it or not, it was never a requirement here. The closest thing we have in our manuals is “use exterior lights as appropriate to enhance visibility” or something along those lines. That said, most F/Os on the 737 do turn on the wing and strobe lights (I always turn on my runway turnoff and landing lights) probably due to the airlines we all came from. But to this day I still see plenty of night runway crossings at DFW, CLT, etc where the aircraft stay completely dark. So I wouldn’t be surprised if our 777 stayed dark as well. I just remember that USAir 737 plowing into the Skywest Metroliner back in 1991 at LAX all too well…
I once dared to turn on the 757 exterior lights when crossing at JFK years ago at night as an F/O. There was another aircraft in pos and hold on that runway.. and I remember the CA getting real ticked off at me while proclaiming, “that’s not procedure and those are not your light switches. Shut em off you’re blinding everyone around us.” I was like, umm, that’s the point.
Maybe we’ll finally catch up to the rest of the world and make it mandatory to illuminate when crossing after this incident.

yes. yes. Next.
Glad you've once again decided to be the self appointed investigator and ruler of the inter webs. Yawn. Don't you have a TA to be reading through?
Best thing about trolling you Delta boys and girls is that you cannot resist responding. It's just too easy. Hence why we hear all the BS on guard up and down the east coast. But keep embarrassing yourselves exuding your feelings of superiority. I can count to 3 before one of you does it on here any time anyone not at Delta mentions Delta.
