Interview/CJO/Class Date Timeline

New hires get 401k contributions immediately as of date of signing.
Suss is referring to the other part of the change, which was to align the annual pay raise date with date of hire. That's in effect for new hires as well, but the rest of us have to wait as long as December 2024 for the company to fix it. And since it costs the company money, and there's no real incentive for them to go faster, nobody expects it any sooner.

Interview 11/7, successful board and CJO 11/9. Prints and drug test Monday 11/13, and all the PRIA and driver paperwork from onboarding background check stuff. Still waiting.
11/14, day after prints and drug test, I got an email saying to expect a call “soon” and they were filling February. Heard from a friend of a guy on my same interview date that he’s already placed in Feb 15. Crazy, when just a couple weeks prior they had classes with only a couple weeks’ lead time. That December pause is significant.

Congratulations. When did you get your first contact from AA recruiting? When did you get your interview proffer? Trying to help some guys understand the lead time from first contact from AA recruiting ("Hey....would you be interested in interviewing??") to training start. I'm telling them I think it's probably 4 months. Would that be approx. what your first contact to CJO to class date was?

That's VERY unusual. "Former". If you have 1000 hrs fighter AND a 121 737 FO job they'd start drooling when your application was entered. Application 10/11.... called 10/12. That's ringing the bell but also shows how few of those applicants are out there. We called the water walkers/fast burners 'rock stars' among the recruiting volunteers. But even they took 3-4 months to get a call for an interview back in 2014. Pure miltary fighter/ISR guy. Got his 121 job at a regional and rapidly the interview offers came - SW, UA, AA, DL. It looked like the 121 on top of his F-18/K350 resume rang the bell. Quickest I back then was a Captain's son who had Part 121 and ANG fighter time...rang the bell when he got his IP qual....took about 10-14 (?) days for them to contact him after he put the IP qual in the system. Back in 2014-2017 there was 14-17,000 applicants and 30% (4-5000) had 1000 hrs TPIC. The majors were only hiring 3,000 (??) back then. Now? They're hiring 6,000 (?) and in August 22 AA had 5,900 applicants and only 741 had 1,000 hrs TPIC. The supply pool has gotten worse since then. Guys with no insider connections has said - 1500 hrs CFI, 1,000 hrs regional FO...got the call. Hired before 2700-2800 hrs.
