Where did you get the Intel of us “trying to grow back to a 15,000 pilot group...”?
This actually has me concerned. Between today and the end of 2025 alone we’re retiring 3400+ pilots. I’m hoping the folks in GSW have a plan, because this plus trying to grow back to a 15,000 pilot group is a monumental task. Maybe the new CQT cycle and a fewer number of fleet types will help unclog the training pipeline.

I haven't heard anything of that sort through any channels, ya know van drivers, FAs, jumpseaters, bathroom attendants, etc....I think more realistically we can expect to hover around 13,600-13,800...APA's seniority listed updated 5/1 shows 13,646 pilots on the Effective Seniority list which removes all RET, FUR, VPLOA, etc pilots.....so maybe a slight bump in that number this year and we are at 13,800 pilots. Until international widebody flying comes back in a meaningful way I think we can expect to carry around that amount of pilots....So if someone(I'm not taking the time to do it) can figure out how many we will lose between now and next summer that number plus, 13,800-13,646= 154, and I think that is a good approximation of how many we will hire. It could be more if they were smart to get slightly ahead of the recovery but we all know they aren't going to do that.

No intel just assuming that we’d eventually want to get back to pre-COVID size, even if it takes a few years. It’s true that we retired quite a few airplanes, but they were always slated to go. Just went a lot faster. As of now we still have deliveries coming of 59 maxes, 88 neos/XLR, and 43 787s. ( some of these will be 777-2 replacements I know). Some of the deliveries have been pushed back to better alight with the slow rate of recovery but I see it as totally feasible that is a few years we’re back to our original size. Have you heard something different?

Regarding the prelim, any logical explanation as to why they would leave known vacancies unfilled? For instance DFW 73 CA seat had 60 announced positions open, yet only 30 or so pilots moved to that seat. 10(ish) being reinstatements from the displacements awarded last year.
