Hello everyone. I have applied to AA and did the online assessment. I am currently flying the A350 for a ME company with 10200 total flight hours, also typed rated on the A320 Family and the Embraer 170/190, FAA Unrestricted ATP on the A320. What are the odds for me to join AA?
Have you applied to the other Big 3 airlines (Delta, United)? Commuting is ok (easy enough) if you want to live in a AA crew base but don't get hired. Pursue DL and UA at the same time, go to whoever hires you first. Continue applying at 1, or both, of the other airlines if you prefer tham over the first airline that hires you. In the U.S. there is no training bond. Guys have literally based their type rating ride at airline X, walked down the hall to give their 2 week notice, and had the fleet manager say "don't bother going to the your base. We won't give you any IOE/LOE. Thanks for letting us know. Good luck."

How long have folks been waiting to hear from AA after completing the assessment? I completeted it about a month ago. I don't think I do too terribly on it and am anxious to hear something.

In house minimums have gone up (don't ask me what they are, nobody knows, but they have said they are more picky then they have been). Are your stats competitive? Any TPIC? If not you may not hear anything until they pick hiring back up next year.

Thanks for info - I didn't realize things had slowed quite so much at AA. Yes, my stats are quite competitive. I have a CJO at UA, but am very interested in checking out American. I'll keep reminding myself to be patient.

I'm not under the impression things have slowed down at AA. They have slowed down elsewhere, which means AA can be more picky.

Yes, a drop from about 2,200 in 2023 to 1,800 going forward is about a 20% dropoff. That was planned though and it puts the company roughly on pace for the stated target of 10,000 new pilots in the five years since hiring restarted. An average class size of say 48 four times a month for nine months is 1,728, which is right on track.

April and May are still a go. I’m April as well. So far just June, July, and August are no classes.
