Not sure what has changed with the new application portal.

I think it all is dependent upon your level of attention to detail. I’m a perfectionist, deal with administrative oversight on a daily basis when I’m not flying, and have a plethora of long-term pilots around to ask questions to at a moments notice. The Delta app was one thing, I’m unsure had I just “filled it out” would I have done it correctly to the T. But, I borrowed a buddies who had paid for a service with a similar background, and I easily made the changes required. I agree, the AA application wasn’t cosmic, and I’m not working from the bottom end of the qualification scale, so I admit I filled it out with a little attention and was successful. Nobody can tell you what’s right; you may get called right away and you’ll know you did it right, you may not and be wondering what you did wrong or if you’re qualified. I’m also a people person, can concisely answer just about anything you ask about because “that’s what I do,” and have a plethora of experience to fall back on. That being said, I did interview prep to make sure I wasn’t missing anything and to put my best foot forward. Turns out I wasn’t and I have no regrets. Only you know you and only time will tell. Good. Luck.

I also went with an app review service and have no regrets. If not just for the peace of mind that I didn't tick the wrong box... I only applied and did their assessment last Thursday so time will tell.

Not sure if you're being serious or not? I understand someone taking a second look but the Apps are not TMAAT, or asking you to write a dissertation. The apps seem pretty striaightforward.

As I said what a time we live in. Pre-COVID if you didn't have your street type capitalized and spelled (i.e. instead of Pinetree dr. you would put Pinetree Drive) your app could be rejected. But with so much hiring these days they are a lot less picky. I mean it's just a multi-million dollar career. It is up to each individual to do their own risk assessmaent if the money is worth it.

If you are not getting a the call it could make a difference. If it is your first time applying and you make a mistake you didn't catch then each month you don't fix it puts you ~200 seniority numbers behind. It gives you peace of mind but I also understand that a few hundred dollars is a lot of money for some people. It's just advice do with it what you will.

I still think the attention to detail to this degree is still required. When I first started applying to the legacies, I didn't have every phone number the same way XXX-XXX-XXXX vs (XXX)XXX-XXXX amongst a few other very minute details. I wasn't getting any attention whatsoever until I paid for the service and had someone comb through everything. Once I did that and made the corrections I was contacted by Delta and American almost immediately for moving forward.

Does anybody know what this means?
A recruiter mentioned that the exclamation point means that the application is complete and that it is visible to the recruiting team. Not really sure how it is different than the green published without the orange exclamation point

Has anyone had any luck going to the conferences? I'm planning on going to the women in aviation conference but I don't want to waste my time/ money if I'm not going even be looked at.

I think the only way to get looked at right now is to go to a conference. Without it, chances seem pretty slim. AA has only a couple of interview dates in the next few months. Classes are filled through June (those offered a class at NGPA last week will have to wait until at least July for a class date).

Getting hired at a legacy airline can be a very expensive proposition, but it is a multimillion dollar reward when you get there.

New suit, application/resume review, job fairs, fancy printed logbooks, interview prep, taking time off of your current job to go to these things...this can be thousands of dollars. I personally spent over $3500 in getting hired. But after 1 premium trip at AA, it was all paid back with some more left over.

Someone will come on here and say that they didn't do any of these things and got hired, and in their case, it is likely just dumb luck. There was a brief window that hiring was going on like crazy everywhere and lots of people slipped into jobs without putting forth much effort. That window is closing.

Putting forth the effort (and unfortunately the money) is required to have a good shot at getting hired.

Someone just posted in a military to airlines FB group I’m in that they had 3 on the spot interviews plus a CJO at a conference a few weekends ago so I think attending definitely gets you in front of the right people.
