My background: Worked for a regionals years ago, then left aviation. Was hired as a DEC for a WO a year ago, enjoying being back in the game ;-)

For reference 7000TT, 5000 JET, 2500 JET PIC, 2 internal references.

Definitely looking out for the next recruiting event.... never done one, but might be a good time to start!

I'll help you out with this....you work for a WO and now it is very hard to get hired at AA outside of the flow. There were 2,100 pilot hired last year and only 52 came outside of the flow. you need to do other things like sim instructor, check pilot, chief pilot, something to help elevate your resume and even then it is hard. I would highly suggest going to a career fair it may help but honestly what has been the best way is going to another Legacy or LCC then coming to AA. Or just wait for the flow. Good luck

Thanks for that ;-) I did have my concerns about that very issue, which I expressed to my friends (my references) over at AA, but they dismissed it as "not an issue".

I also have a classmate who is starting with AA next week, so I know it's possible... but he was a sim instructor and has a pretty impressive resume, depsite not flying for many years. That would corraborate what you said.

Definitely not waiting for the flow... It's well over 5 years!

Same, I've checked all sections and all of them are completed, I will try to figure out otherwise I don't see other option than start a new application with diferent email adress.

Whoa! 52/2100 = 2.4%... Is that right?

How is the flow still 5 years if that's the case? And it would seem your only shot outside of that is from another legacy, no?

AA is cutting the hiring down to only 8 or 9 months per year, but still hiring the same total number. This way, there are even fewer flows in a given year.

The 2.4% of hiring is outside of the flow (interviewed and hired, not a flow).

2.4%, really? Wow, sounds like we should be focusing our efforts towards other carriers. Thats not a lot coming from outside the regionals. Thanks for this info!

Outside the flow doesn't mean outside the regionals.

The total numbers were 315 from the WO/flows. 52 from WO outside of the flow. So only 367 total from Envoy, PSA, and Piedmont a total of about 15%. Those who interviewed 25% were Military and 60% were, as AA puts it, "civilian trained". Kinda interesting that we hire more military than from our own company.

That doesn't seem right... I think that stat is saying that in order to get a class spot from a WO you either wait for flow or you have an exceptional resume. I don't know the exact numbers from my class is Sept, but I would venture a guess that at least 25% were not flows from WOs.
