Default Online Assessment

Hey Folks,

Minutes after submitting an app, I received this email, in part:

"Thank you for applying to the Pilot role with American Airlines.

Now that you’ve completed the application, we need a little more information to finish the process. This position requires an online assessment, which we’ve made quick and easy for you. Please click the link below to complete the assessment as soon as possible. If you have already taken the assessment by clicking “Take Assessment” after submitting the application, you’ve completed the process."

Is this the Pilot Skills Test that they are inviting me to complete or is this just a questionnaire? I'm just trying to find out if this first step (online assessment) is something that I need to study/prep for.

Thanks

That should be the pilot skills test.... I used Airlineassessmentprep.com to become familiar. It was pretty close. My biggest suggestion is that when you actual take the AA PST actually read the directions.

Hi guys,

I've completed each section of my application on pilots.aa.com. And I do not see a final submit button for the completed application, is there one? Its been about 3 weeks now and haven't heard anything back to take the online assesmnt. It also showing "draft" in the upper right hand corner now which I don't think was there before. It looks like they have just updated the portal to a new format in the last couple of days.

I'm currently working in Canada with 6500 hours, 1500PIC and 400PIC on the A320. Also is it common to pay one of the companies to do your APP review? The portal seems pretty straight forward so I've been hesitant to pay someone to do the review but maybe it is necessary.

I'm new to applying for US airlines so any help is appreciated

Thanks!

Do you have the right to work in the USA? With your stats, unless you get no response quickly, I would not bother to pay for anything. Show up to a job fair though.

The way I understand their app is everytime you hit "save" you are sending that info to AA... so the info is going to AA regardless of completion status. I'm not sure about the "draft" though, mine says "published"

Which brings up a good question. Does anyone know if "published" will change to somethign else while or after AA has reviewed your app, i.e. "in-review" or "reviewed"?

Thanks for the info. Do you know how long I have to take the PST? Does the link expire in a set amout of time? I would like to prepare for the test. Did anyone use the CUT-E prep to prepare for the AA PST?

just take it. It’s not that bad. The test gives you examples and lets you practice each part of the test before taking it.

Qualifications:
Chief Pilot/Captain on Challenger 350
7000+ hrs
lots of turbine PIC
900hrs 121
Associates Degree
1 internal rec
Total sidebar, I saw Vince McMahon's Challenger 350 on the ramp at Signature in Miami a few hours before his resignation hit the newsfeed.

Get on LinkedIn and find out where the recruiters are doing their base/city visits. Get there and present yourself. Probably get a brownie point and they'll love your resume. What is the other 1100 hrs PIC in? If it's turbine PIC make sure you list that.

Make sure you have the BIG part of your time listed early - TT, TPIC, PIC, Jet, turbine, MEL, military, military IP. Type ratings. That's probably 95%+ of the hours they're interested in.

Good luck.
