if only I had a crystal ball... In the grand scheme of things 30 years down the road im sure having thousands of pilots under me will make this a great choice alone. The lack of movement at JetBlue concerns me along with the merger. 15 year captains not having lines/only working redeyes concerns me enough. I know there is good and bad everywhere im trying to think long term and not in the present which in itself keeps me up at night. I appreciate the comments. Would you mind if I Sent you a PM?
I have flown with lots of pilots from JetBlue, Spirit, and ACMI cargo carriers, and lots of other places. Most aren't thrilled with the overall quality of life, but none of them really regret coming to AA. There is hope to get rid of the corrupt APA and try to continue to push for real improvements. It isn't rainbows and unicorns here, but it could be worse.

With the new contract, "reassignments" pay 50% more. But the company can classify the reassignments as other things that do not pay extra. The new CBA has been in effect for a day and they are already doing this.
So, sort of. It is too early to tell. Once electronic notification starts, you can get reassigned any time, even after you land and want to go home.
This contract was all about pay and long term disability for the senior guys, not about QOL. Reserve bucket system got much worse. QOL actually took a major hit.

The “classification” thing you’re talking about is where a pilot was legal to operate a flight, thus pulling him/her off said flight to operate another would be a “reassignment” and subject to RA premium pay. But the company elects to not pull the legal pilot from the flight, and rather delays the flight until tomorrow… now the pilot is illegal for tomorrow’s flight (not enough rest) and the pilot is subject to “recovery obligation” for this “misconnect/illegality/cancellation”. The pilot is assigned a new flight that same evening that they are legal for, without any premium pay. Shady? Yes. Same as current (old?) contract? Yes. Common? Not at all, and this company is going to go down in flames if they start cancelling or delaying until tomorrow (hello delta) a ton of flights just to avoid paying pilots RA premium.
Re: additional flying after your last leg… this has been a grievance for years, and did not change in the new contract. Contract says all reassigned flying must be in lieu of other flying… so a reassignment can’t be in lieu of you getting in your car and driving home or hopping on your commute. Company conveniently disagrees when it suits them and will sometimes try to go fishing and put, say, a quick penalty lap at the end of someone’s trip. Most times that extra flying is absorbed into the RIGs so you only get the paltry RA premium pay for those additional legs. It’s the easiest “no” ever, just walk away and go home, get a Missed Trip, fatigue, whatever. You won’t lose any pay (other than RA premium), you won’t get in “trouble”, etc. Or you can fly it like a (insert derogatory expletive here) and then run to Facebook or APC to complain about it. Problem is, we have a ton of pilots who do exactly that. Maybe ALPA will fix that, maybe not.
I agree the new reserve system is probably worse, but I don’t think it’ll be as bad as some want it to be.

Also, go read 15.N.8 if you haven't yet.

I’ve read 15.N.8. Company tweaks the schedule, your departure time moves 5 minutes, and you now get 50% more money for that leg… or roll the dice on RO. Horrible, absolutely horrible!

1000 turbine is not a requirement. It certainly helps, but it's not a requirement. Sounds like it would at least be worth a shot for you to apply.
