Are “thanks but no thanks” given out during the interview? I have heard of some getting the CJO the day of, then if others going to Review Board…but are there actually guys told “no thanks” on the spot?

No TPIC needed to get a call nowadays but more turbine time needed for sure. I got hired with 2200h but 1200h of turbine.

No… they will send you to the Review Board and then send you the TBNT email

I'm thinking somewhere around 1,000 jet would get my foot in the door, but not sure if it's higher or lower.

Any insight would be appreciated!
I got hired with 1000 turbine. 0 TPIC. 2500 tt. 4 year degree (non-aviation). Gold seal. A couple non 121 training failures. Went to a couple events. As soon as I updated my app with 1000+ turbine, I got the call.

What's the latest on the review board? I had a friend interview recently and he didn't get hired but they told him we'll be in touch. I'm trying to give him some hope. Thanks.

Usually they send you an email on the Friday of the week you interviewed either way. Some cases could be outside of that though. I don't think there is any reason to stress one way or another (unless he has a ton of 121 TPIC and still went to the review board, maybe then it wouldn't be the best sign). Just tell him/her to not stress and be patient.

So are we still looking at 3-4 months (which include training) to hold a line out of Miami?

I live in Atlanta (not wanting to stay there forever though) so could commute to Miami. Spirit seems to have a lot of flights with empty seats going direct ATL-MIA so would list standby with them in case I could not get a jumpseat/standby flight with American. It seems like an easy commute but please let me know if I am wrong.

Spirit will always have empty seats even if it shows oversold due to a very high percentage of no-shows each flight. Jumpseats almost never get used at that Airline. Best commuter secret out there.

I accepted the CJO 20 days ago , I know that the background check can take a while in some cases, but I’m very anxious to start….

Did you select the first available or to wait until after all background checks are completed? There were no June classes, but July class dates are going out now.
