You’re free to think all you want, but that’s not the reality of what’s happening and what’s been said by upper management. Isom specifically said as recent as 2 weeks ago that their priority is short haul international and domestic…unless you have some inside knowledge about AA seeing and being envious of the delta/United margins due to their competency running a global airline, you’re just projecting “hopes and dreams”.

Nope. Normally I would agree with your line of thinking about changes in leadership, but when was the last time anybody in senior AA management came from the outside and not simply promoted from within? Heck, Parker is retired yet still sits as Chairman of the Board at AAL!
As the old saying goes, they’re all cut from the same cloth. Do you agree Red, or disagree?

I don’t have a narrative at all. I would love American Airlines to be a global powerhouse competing with the like of Delta and United. The problem is I can’t find any evidence that supports that direction. Can you?

If they think short haul domestic/international provides the most inventory to sell with their fleet then why would they pull down that schedule to go explore new routes. People get bored when they add international frequency instead of add destinations but that doesn’t prove that margins are better into secondary or further international markets. Margins on annual aircraft utilization not margins on 1 short route vs 1 long route.

You have already formed your conclusions, no amount of evidence would convince you.

Mgt said AA will be transitioning the airline from a 70/30 (shot haul to long haul ratio) to an 80/20 and use our international partners to grow the global network. On the earnings call they said AA is going to focus on what we do best, domestic and short haul international. Make of that what you will. Our head network planner Brian Znotins said our hubs are structurally inferior to those at UAL and DAL when it comes to Asia and European flying. But who knows, maybe that will change.
