Do you know what those dates are? Public comms from AA have been a little vague. “Hiring this Fall” could be anything from early Sept to late Nov. I would assume it’s on the earlier side since they want to get so many through, but it would be nice to know. Thanks.

Some 3/20 CJO’s are getting 10/21 classes.

Wonder if class sizes will be reduced for COVID issues?

So who thinks that “for planning purposes” email they sent last week will stick? Delta moved their classes up to June and United is ahead of the game with May classes already. I don’t see how AA keeps the October dates given the progress we are seeing. If Europe decides to open up for vaccinated travelers in June/July I think they’ll hit a snag putting wides on even select routes since more narrows would
be needed to replace the domestic wide routes. The regionals are already in crisis staffing, I see that trickling over to mainline if they don’t act accordingly. I know none of you actually know anything but give me some hope that the light at the end of the tunnel is closer than it looks.

I heard a rumor that someone in the 3/17/20 class was told to expect July. Not sure how true that is.

We are at the point that it doesn’t matter what demand is. The problem is training. I get they were freaked out and their financial situation forced their hand a bit, but we cut back pretty far. Many people who have been at AA two years don’t have a training date in sight. I know of someone who was sent home from training due to instructor availability. There are also 330 guys on leaves who have to be trained that I know of. We’ll see how it plays out but I don’t think there’s much they can do at this point. In the meantime, I’ll continue enjoying month eight of vacation

oh I think it will be bad starting in May, especially with everyone playing the vaccination card to get off of trips. anyone else notice after TTOT was open a few hours how trips started to drop into open time 2 at a time about 2-3 weeks apart?...yeah

This part was actually addressed in the latest earnings call. Long haul markets have a roughly 7-9 month long booking window. If Europe does suddenly open up, it doesn’t equate to sudden vacation bookings last minute. Those summer vacations have already been booked elsewhere (HI, FL, MEX etc). It seems that AA has pretty much decided that EU is a wash for summer 2021, excluding some markets like ATH and LHR.

boy that is some spin. 18 months of pent up demand? Europe opening up DEFINITELY will be a booking stampede
