Not all parts of the FOM are created equal. Do you really think that the FAA cares if you don’t wear your hat or if your jacket isn’t buttoned? It’s in there under uniform appearance, but the feds don’t care. The operational rules are another matter. I don’t have a dog in the fight, but at the end of the day the only power the captain has is to say yes or no to the pilot that the gate agent sends down. Just remember, a regional may control the jumpseat, but a legacy can always change the non-rev program for seats in the back and neither the legacy or regional employees can do anything about it. Be careful picking fights when you only have one weapon and the other side has many.

On the other hand you have the status quo, which merely mans what's already been happening, without reference to origin or justification. And yes psychologically it's much harder to move away from once it's been established, because the beneficiary immediately feels like they're owed it. It's a hundred times harder to say no to something the second time than the first. The camel's nose is already under the tent. But I'm trying to figure out why you think you're owed the current arrangement, and/or why that should figure into the priority that they offer you on their jumpseat.

You’re confused. A republic CA is spreading false information. Never said his name was revealed. You guys need to get your facts straight before you start informing other pilots what exactly is happening. Again, I’d let your union handle this.
