Jumpseat Battle Brewing

Well I know this thread has gotten heated and I wasn’t speaking of the gate agent but to your question yes, and everyone involved above front line employees is very interested in the Republic FOM being followed. Which in turn means yes the gate agent is also interested in not deviating from the FOM though they have never seen it or know it exists.
I assure you that not one but 2 CMOs would be interested if this thing that has not happened but you say will happen happens.

And no, the gate agents don’t care about your FOM because it doesn’t affect them. They followed their company rules, that’s it. If you guys want to not let someone ride because of your little FOM change then that’s your territory, not theirs. They aren’t forcing you to violate your fom, they’re just sending someone down. If you took a pilot out of your special little priority list order that’s on you (not that you’d ever hear about it from the feds but again, that’s your deal not ours).
Again, you aren’t seeing the corner you’ve been painted into. Right wrong or indifferent, you’re in that corner

Now we are talking about it. You can refuse to accept the D1 or D2 in the jumpseat. But if the gate agent follows the instructions they have been given by AAG management, you will also be refusing the jumpseat to the OAL pilots. It will leave empty. So if your goal is to anger not just AAG pilots, but UA, DL, AS etc... you’ve found a great way to do it!

Again, trust me when I tell you that this is not how this works. The feds could not care less about jumpseat priority, as long as you follow security procedures for the jumpseat. They will laugh at you and think we’re all being petulant children. They don’t get it as this ain’t their game and they don’t care.

It will be a lot easier the moment you realize you have no control over this. Most gate agents don’t care about any of this. There has been no company memo sent to any of the ones I talked to in the last few days. Until then, you are still just a bunch of hot air.

I get where you are coming from, but you really have very little leverage. You only have the authority to allow or deny who the agent sends down. That is the limit of your control. American controls every seat in the back and you are powerless as to who sits where. All they have to do is block a seat for AA pilots on a Republic operated flight and any leverage you have is eliminated. Your flight attendants will love that while they stay behind because the agent awarded that seat to an American pilot rather than release it. Pilots for AA don’t have that much influence on AA policy, pilots for a regional have even less.

We have no control over any of this, but you guys have control over what happens at a company you don’t work for. Right.

Did you miss the whole discussion on how that’s your only authority? You can deny deny deny, but you have zero control over who gets sent down. I know you read it and understand, I guess you have to just stick to “it’s our jumpseat” because it’s all you’ve got. We all agree, you control if someone gets sent packing or rides.
