I'm a new hire based in BOS. For what it's worth, the chief told us there is a small growth (I think he said around 3 or 4%). They are trying to be a reliable base to get more flying. PM me if you have any other questions.

AA is actually #2 in Boston behind JetBlue right now. They have around 1/3 of the total pax while we sit around 20%. Delta is at 15%. Delta has announced a fairly large Boston increase however.
AA lost a lot of their Boston pax to JetBlue over the years. They just couldn't compete with their much higher costs. I don't blame them for cutting back. But it does suck for those who are up there.
It does seem like there aren't that many originators up there so no need to base more crew. Splitting the 737 and A32X fleets up also doesn't help. If we had a single type narrowbody I think we'd have more bases.

Wow I’m surprised delta only has 15% traffic in Boston. Their operation up there looks much bigger than ours. Are those numbers current?

I wonder what Delta’s margins are in JFK. Maybe there’s something to the Vasu theory of having a Europe gateway with less competition. In other words, might Boston be to Delta what Philly is to us? Or if not now, in the future?

We're easy to beat but JetBlue does have a loyal following and free WiFi. When Delta ramps that up I'm guessing you'll see them go after JetBlue pretty aggressively. They're playing chess and are just in the opening rounds moving pawns for now. Meanwhile Doug and Vasu are playing checkers sucking on their thumbs.
