I get it, the general public can be aggravating to deal with, but our CS people seem to be rude with our passengers right off the bat.
It’s become much worse over the past year in my opinion. The frequency that I hear complaints about gate agents has increased as have my personal negative experiences.

It seemed like I would see or have a bad experience maybe once /month (which really isn’t that bad considering how much time we spend in the operation compared to the average passenger). Now it seems like it’s at least once /trip. Just yesterday I watched a gate agent and a FA have a heated argument in front of customers about allowable carry on bags. Extremely unprofessional.

Imagine going to the BMW dealer and it was located in the ghetto. Would you do business there? No of course not. People that pay to sit in first or premium economy generally like to be around others like them.

Sorry that makes me a dick. I highly doubt any of those thinking I am live in the projects either so you can stop with the hypocritical remarks. This isn't about race as they were white...

The culture we live in unfortunately. I remember having to dress as if I was going to an interview on the off chance we needed to sit in First to get on. That being said I do enjoy the spandex option being a choice for some, just not all.

Remember, spandex is a privilege...not a right!

This is the issue with letting literally everyone at the company nonrev with impunity. These were not well dressed people, I know this makes me a dick but they were on the lower end of society.
Which people shouldn't be allowed to NonRev?

There are dress standards, lax as they are these days, and yes people should act decent and use headphones in public - in this example. Did you say something? I would / have.

Maybe the businessmen and ladies in first - the upper end people - should keep their bare feet off the bulkhead too.

Actually Nick Alexander BMW in LA is a pretty nice dealership. They stay in business somehow. And it’s practically in Watts, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I jumpseat quite a bit on AA, and had a gate agent bite my head off for asking if I can see if I can keep my bag in the flight deck instead of gate checking it. I really think their process of gate checking is broken and inefficient, and causes a lot of undue stress.

It’s the feeling that they own the jet. But having to put on a smiley face all day with some of the angry mob they have to converse with must be draining. Not defending their actions.

I’ve learned to just smile and nod and take the pink bag tag for gate checking. I walk down the jet bridge and stick it in my pocket. Then I ask the Captain if they’re okay with me stowing my bag up front (never had a single Captain tell me no or even really care. Most are happy to do it). On the off chance they say no I still have the gate check tag in my pocket and I’ll just put it on the bag and leave it outside. No big deal... Some battles just aren’t worth fighting.
