I have a buddy in the same boat, I wouldn't worry about it and certainly wouldn't call anybody about it.
Been a while since I interviewed....

But they were very clear. "Do not call. We will be in touch."

There was a thread here at the time. Some guys called anyhow, and they always got a "thanks, but no thanks" email like an hour after the call.

Following instructions is important. It's all a part of the interview process. Should be obvious, but to some it isn't.

Oh I certainly wasn't dropping names or advocating my friend call, I was just seeing if that was normal. I interviewed in Feb 16, got the CJO 2 weeks later, and then 3 weeks after that got the email about a hold in training during the furlough returns. We (people in the pool) had an expect class date of January 2017. But the recruiting department kept us all informed, which helped immensely. (For edification, we all made it into training by October 16)

I emailed them when I didn't hear anything back after six months and they replied with a nice email saying they were just way behind.

It seems like it goes in waves. I heard back in less than two weeks. Regardless, the whole process between interview and indoc needs a lot of work. Great office, I know they are playing catch-up with the hiring needs and I think they know what needs to be changed... but I hope they streamline it like other majors have soon because they are losing a lot of good people to those others.

Depends on what you are told, I guess.

They were very clear about the "don't call" with us, but some people didn't listen.

Perhaps. But I'm the type to ask regardless when I have a question.

US Airways was the same way. "Don't call us. We'll call you." At LUS, there was no pool. Your job offer came with a class date. Sometimes it was quick (I waited 24 hours). Sometimes it was months. However, it was stated very clearly not to call and check on your status. I heard of several guys doing that and it resulted in an immediate "Thanks, but no thanks" e-mail. It's a multi-million dollar career. Following simple directions should be easy.

There's no way in hell there can be any delay...we are short across the board and will only get worse.
