AA Class Drops

I’m LAX 737 (only this month) and here’s what I’ve noticed. There’s about a 40% chance you get something other than LAX throughout the day. There’s closer to 80% chance you leave out of SNA or ONT if the trip starts prior to 1pm. Cheapest way to those airports for a typical 3 day trip is a rental car with our deals and discounts fair (about $85). If you spend more than 2 months in LAX it almost makes sense to buy a car. I’ve been doing the Uber thing and praying they only give me trips out of LAX. So far I’m at 2 LAX red eyes and a 3 day SNA trip. I put in my proffer requests early and check often to see if there’s new LAX trips I could throw in there. Long story short, I am glad to be going back to the east coast.

I forget which forum it was, but someone posted once they commute 90 minutes to not have to fly a 737. I question their mental stability.

It's not that uncomfortable at all. After 4 or 5 hours, yeah, the seat starts to get a little unpleasant, but I think that goes for anything you're sitting in for 4 or 5 hours. The business class rest seats on the LUS 757s were unbearable after 90 minutes. It's not that loud. It's a fantastic flying airplane and the trips are pretty good on it (at least out of DFW).

I am LAX 320 but will take DFW 737 as soon as I can hold it, probably next bid.
The Airbus is wonderful plane but frankly, I find it kind of boring and I've never warmed to the side stick. Just don't like it.

Plan on being held for a while if switching between the 320 and 737.

Another major problem with LAX 737 reserve is you have to cover 4 airports spread out all over hell. LAX, SNA, ONT, & SAN, plus there is no viable public transportation in the city as a commuter unlike NYC. You are going to spend a small fortune and a lot of time on Uber/rental cars or ride multiple connecting busses with hobos and hoodrats for hours and hours in traffic hoping to not get robbed or stabbed. Regularly rode bus in NYC, ORD without issue, never felt comfortable on busses in LA. NYC bus has a mix of all walks of life since nobody has cars there. LA, pretty much everyone you would want to associate with has cars so the people on the bus are typically sketchy as hell, certainly not airline pilots. Short trips near LAX are fine but long trips across the city. No thanks, Won't do it again.
A320 LAX only has to cover one airport.
LAX to ONT = 55 miles
LAX to SNA = 40 miles
LAX to SAN = 124 miles (basically have to fly there, have heard they will build you a DH but unsure).

That's total BS, there should be one airport and if the company wants satellites that's fine but be able to expense towncar or Uber rides to them.

This above. Total BS. Hell make one west coast base, one east coast base, and one midwest base. How are you to get from dca to mia? Not the companys problem. Ha
