AA Class Drops

Sliceback gave you the bottom guy’s static number 14980 and his projected number 14547. So the reality is there are 14,547 pilots on property right now. This includes guys on leave or LTD etc. our actual number tends to be about 14,500. Though on paper will tend to show around 15,000.
Hopefully that makes sense, I heard that at Delta you basically have your number updated everyday.

I’m not sure if DCA will be included in any future drops but you should be able to hold it relatively quickly. I was in the Jan 9th indoc class and I am currently based in LAX on the 737. I was just awarded DCA for September in the latest vacancy bid.

The company does not update the seniority list daily. They only do it once per year. So even though the most junior pilot has an official seniority number of 14980 the real number is 14547 because hundreds have retired. The number of ‘active’ pilots is much lower than 14500

Our list gets reshuffled every month, but we use whatever our actual number is in July for the entire year until next July. So it’s a static number all year and new hires pile in with higher static numbers all year. Every month they produce a new list and next to our static number they give us our projected number. The projected number is the number we’d have if they reshuffled the list on that day (dropped out retirees & quitters). Then in July, they actually do shuffle it and your new number goes down by the number of guys who retire or quit (quitter number is very low, about 6 since July 2017; 1 2017 hire, 1 2016 hire and 4 2001 hires)

Updated seniority list
APA updates our seniority list monthly.
Once on the homepage...go to committees>membership >seniority list and projections>seniority list.
As of April 1st, 430 pilots have come off the list since the July 2017 shuffle.
I’ve heard the number of active pilots at AA is around 13,200.
