yeah I was agreeing with you too...it just didn't read that way when I quoted you....the shuttle service is not viable right now bottom line...I believe we have been operating more flights out of NYC recently bc the FAA dropped the covid relief on slots...

why would we or want to keep a big NYC operation going when business travel is dead right now, not to mention overall tourist travel to NYC is down too?? Seems like a pretty good short term business decision to me...and we have been redeploying those planes on other routes not parking them....CLT-BGR come to mind, as does AVP...
DFW, CLT, MIA, and PHX are the hubs that matter for now, everywhere else is way off their pre-Covid numbers...you can tell just walking through the terminals.

True, but we are filling them up with pax’s coming off their flights….American has tried to make NYC work as a traditional hub for years, unsuccessfully, and now they are trying this approach….it’s better than pulling out completely…if someone has a better idea I’m sure y’all can call Dallas and lay it on them and see how it goes…otherwise we are just a bunch of pilots &!+*ing about how those should be our flights. Our best bet is to get better scope protection in this next contract. Just to be clear I would love for those flights to be all operated by AA metal and AA pilots, but they are not and that’s the reality moving fwd for now. Get our scope changed and maybe it will be different.

And that is the point of the NEA, to keep them from booking on other airlines…Everyone wants to act like we had a great NYC product before this..we didn’t and we were losing ground to Delta every year…better ideas, let’s hear them….oh but they would just book on us, no they weren’t. We were in 3rd place in NYC internationally and falling, and I think we were in 3rd or 4th place domestically too…I don’t have any answers, just looking at the situation that was and the situation that is now.

I am not arguing. What is there to argue about? Again everyone on here is just b****ing about the situation, I am just telling it like it is...and I have asked if anyone has a better idea that can actually make us(AA) more money then this current JB deal then let's hear it....but all I get is, weak, it should be our flying, those are our routes, yada yada yada...fix scope in this next contract along with a 1000s other things and maybe we will have a case....and we are far from the only carrier to do this, Delta has outsourced their paxs/flying to international JVs for years now and their pilots are ****ed off about it too, at least we didn't give away what little WB flying we have that way. We have an inferior product in the eyes of NYC travelers compared to DL, UAL, and JB. Do you disagree? Yup we did just start DEL yesterday, so I shouldn't list that as a WB international flight then bc it just started? That flight is pretty much sold out for the next 2 weeks everyday, I don't think it's a stretch to assume that some of the connecting paxs were off JB flights. JB has WAY more flights into JFK that can then connect on AA to places like DEL, its not like we can just flip a switch and add all these hub flights into JFK to then fill up a 777 daily to DEL...what should we do? Add a bunch of incoming flights to JFK that lose money for years just to hopefully fill a 777 to international destinations? They are more likely to just buy on UAL or DL, this way we offer JB paxs an opportunity to use their loyalty to connect to far away places that were not accessible for them before on JB and thus giving them a huge incentive to travel that way rather than buy on UAL or DL. AA lost NYC years ago, this isn't something that just happened with the JB deal, I see the JB deal as AA's "last stand" in NYC so to speak. I hope it works, bc the alternative is worse, but I think the gov is going to shut it down anyways...
