So, do I take a 320 to LGA or MIA in hopes of getting PHL soon, or make my life easy and bid the 190 to PHL? I’m nervous about the future of the 190 fleet and getting stuck at the bottom of the seniority list.

Any help would be appreciated.

AA should be having a fleet update soon and we should have a better idea what the plans for the E190 are. I'd rather be junior and drive to work than commute. Personally I'd choose between PHL 190 and LGA 320 and not even consider MIA if you have a choice.

Rsv on the 190 as a local is a great gig regardless of how quickly the list moves. If it goes away end of this year you’ll be displaced and will def be able to get LGA 320 if not PHL. If it hangs around longer, you’ll be able to bid off of it, get withheld on it for up to a year, and enjoy extra seniority at group 2 pay. As a local it’s a win win either way imo.

PHL 190 if you can get it. Absolutely positively you will be able to displace to the AB in PHL when you get kicked off if you can't bid into it before then. If you can't get the 190, LGA as a second best option.

Although you didn't say what direction you are from PHL. If south, also that may change things as you'd be closer to DCA and BWI flying.

If you can get the E190 I wouldn't even bid off if it does go away as planned. It will probably be fall of 2020. Stay on it and displace without a seat lock.

If you’re WRI obviously take LGA then get to PHL ASAP. But if you’re DOV, just take the 190 and see what happens when they get rid of it. You’ll probably just be able to move to the 320 at PHL

Take 320 wherever you can, and bid over to PHL. You'll get the base transfer literally on the next bid. It's what I did..I spent exactly one month in NY before transferring to PHL on the 320.

Default AA Class Drops

I’ll just put it out there that PHL does contain a risk of forced upgrade to the 190 even if you are the junior man on the 320 and qualified. There were a few on a recent vacancy run and re-proffer I believe.

So they force you off the 320 to the 190?

Yeah, I’m at DOV. Maybe the 190 is the better choice.

There are not enough words to express the Quality of life that comes with driving to work. The 190 is the best kept secret for anyone from around philly or that wants seniority ASAP. Jump on it! Easy plane to learn/fly... never screw up your body clock... sip coffee in your car on the way to work... and NEVER worry about missing your commute. Take it, THEN bid the jet you want after, and enjoy group 2 pay with great seniority when you get withheld for a year! Like I said, best kept secret for us here in the area.

yes, but I wouldn’t advise a commute to avoid it.

OP,

I’d go for a 190 or Airbus, with LGA at the top of the list. You’ll get PHL very quickly. Avoid the 737 even if it means a transcon commute. You will get LGA or PHL likely by the end of training (barring a catastrophe of course). We’ve just started to hit some real movement here, so don’t get stuck in a plane that you have to commute to.

As far as the 190 goes, I really enjoyed it, I like shuttle flying, and enjoyed the Manhattan layovers.
