I fly with lot's of CA's here who feel the same.

But knowing that many people feel differently, it's nice to be able to bid domestic if you don't want to deal with it, or international, if that's your preference.

I've never looked so I don't know but I'd imagine 'avoid international' is an option in PBS. That would at least help a little.

Customs bag drag is a pain. It can take 20-30 minutes to return to the same airplane you just left.

Flying in the Caribbean is some of the best flying there is, especially in Dec-April when there's hardly any weather issues.

That makes sense. So do you have to clear customs even if you are flying back when that plane goes back shortly and you aren’t leaving the airport?

It can be good international but it also can be a real pain in the butt. Inconsistent security at airport. I just got frisked in Mexico at the gate in front of passengers. In uniform I may add? Political? Maybe.

Can't buy duty free anymore. Language barrier, tainted food, expensive food, security at hotels. Metal detector and bomb sniffing dog to get into the hotel in Bogata. Big mountains, no taxiway markings. Going through customs is a real pain. Miami is a nightmare. Very little consistency going through customs and security.

The good part is $6 an hour more, $.50 per diem increase and a junior pilot gets better trips than they would normally get.

You have to clear US customs. On a turn to, say PAP or wherever, you stay with the plane. So a MIA-PAP-MIA-CCS 3-legger, you'd clear customs at Miami (potentially eventually ending up right back at the plane you brought in) and Caracas.

Bogota taxiways are being renamed. It's all right there in your iPad it's not that bad. And I'd say it's safe. Every building has dogs and security. That's just how it is down there.

Global entry makes all these hassles minuscule.

Thanks for explaining that! It sounds like it could be a pain.

Never had a problem in Mexico - go into duty free - buy booze & back out to airplane.

FYI, LAX 320 has been an International-only bid status for about a year now.

Personally, I love my "International" Hawaii trips. 😉

With that said, I flew a three day trip last week that had LAX-MIA-CUR as day one! 8:30ish block that day! Day two was CUR-MIA-YYZ. Now, I've been through Immigration/Customs a hundred times in MIA (used to fly MIA 737 INT), but until that day, I'd NEVER experienced any real delays going through there. This time it took ONE HOUR to get through the Crew Line. What a PITA. I'm now motivated to finally get Global Entry.

New-hire here. Coming from a wholly owned I seem to remember reading somewhere AA will pay for global entry? Does this still hold true?
