How is flying in NY? Plenty to go around or plenty of sitting doing nothing?
Depends on where you live (if you'll live in base), or the better commute.
Other than that, NY covers 3 bases. LGA. JFK, & EWR. But it's usually pretty junior and faster movement than PHL.
PHL only 1 base to cover. All PHL flying is classified as International. But slower movement than NY (except the 190).

The 190 no longer has the quick movement everyone seems to think. There isn't much flying to go around, everyone is withheld, and there are only a handful of newhires per class,
I'm in my 6th month of short call reserve hoping for a line in August, whereas any other newhire base I would have had a line or at least long call months ago.

Oh Man! I guess that's the tough part about being stuck on a dying fleet. When is the date of the last airplane to be parked? Could you hold a line on PHL 320?

The current plan has 6 aircraft retiring at the end of this summer, and the remaining 14 gone at the end of summer 2020. Not sure how they'll shuffle the staffing after the 6 go. Yes, I could hold a line PHL 320 right now.

Great info, thanks for that.

Anyone get notified of a Sept 10 class date yet?

Looks like LAX/320 is a hot ticket.

Is it? Honest question. Also taking into consideration being able to keep flying vs needing to dish out money for a hotel/crashpad.

I'm currently debating putting in for putting PHL, MIA, or LAX before this vacancy bid closes.

Mainline is right...I think many think it’s the best commute/seniority combo from DFW while waiting to hold DFW. I’d take a good look at PHL though, if I lived there and couldn’t hold it. Much cheaper crash pads and easier to get to via bus. Much cheaper food, no disability tax ($1159 a year IIRC), hotels are way cheaper. The flight is probably shorter.

You mean consider PHL if commuting from DFW? Yeah, it’s currently top of my bid and displacement preference. I was debating weather or not MIA would be a better commute from DFW. Hotels seem to go cheap out there near the airport, plus there’s a late flight back. All else being equal I would rather be in PHL, though.
