It's been a while but they just said to expect to hear from HR. So no, not officially that I can remember.

D checks only part of the story - quite frankly they misread ghe market and the numbers aren't there to justify a 6-airplane fleet & the D checks are the coup de grace for the 757. In retrospect it was probably a mistake to ever attempt Hawaii in the first place.

Oh there is no doubt they should never have entered the Hawaii market with the way they were running that part of the operation. They managed to screw it up in ways I could never imagine.
Doing ETOPS is the kind of operation that requires putting a lot of time, money, training, maintenance, and the right operations people to operate well. None of those were things they have ever done or wanted to do.

You kinda have to maintain planes to do ETOPS. That's rule one!

Again an anathema for Allegiant. How they got over there in the first place is a mystery. Probably the same POI that allows them to continue flying with an average of one engine fire/failure/rollback a month. Not to mention the flight control rigging problems...
How long before Allegiant replaces Valujet in the pilot's lexicon?

For those of you flying into AVL, please be vigilant in reviewing the TAF and DON'T DEPART if forecast WX is below landing minimums at time of arrival (FAR 121.613). What complicates things for those not in the know is AVL has only 1 approach from the South that MD-80s can accept; this is due to runway construction. Tailwind and circling minima are more restrictive by Company Procedures. Be careful out there...AVL is going to be the new PGD 'till the new runway & approaches are commissioned.
