What did he have to say? Usually it's quite helpful to have a line pilot walk in one's resume. Hope it works out for you,

It used to help a lot to have an internal recommendation. Not so much any more. If you read earlier in this thread, or the other one, it talks a lot about what to expect.

Do you currently live in an Allegiant base? Plan on moving to one?

The December 1st class had 40 pilots (plus 2 instructors). 20 went to MD80 and other 20 went to Airbus.

With the exception of one pilot, all Airbus's went in seniority order. I don't think anyone under 35 got the Airbus.

He said that I should be good to go. He also mentioned something about the average hours for civilian pilots they have been hiring is about 4500hrs. And also that they've been liking the guys that have "hand-flying" experience. Thanks for the good wishes, I hope I get a call soon!

At the moment I do not, but I have no problem relocating to an AAY base, I especially hope to get a FL base since Im from Orlando . I think I have a good chance, I've been reading that the FL bases are pretty junior. As long as I'm in FL in any of their 4 bases, I really don't mind. We'll see

Sanford should not be a problem. Worst case scenario would probably be getting it before training was finished.

For those of you flying into AVL, please be vigilant in reviewing the TAF and DON'T DEPART if forecast WX is below landing minimums at time of arrival (FAR 121.613). What complicates things for those not in the know is AVL has only 1 approach from the South that MD-80s can accept; this is due to runway construction. Tailwind and circling minima are more restrictive by Company Procedures. Be careful out there...AVL is going to be the new PGD 'till the new runway & approaches are commissioned.

Normally, I'd be surprised this place didn't take the long-term runway construction & loss of approaches in mountainous terrain into consideration when choosing AVL to be a base for 80s, but nothing surprises me around here anymore!!

The Bonus was a nice clink in the piggy bank on Monday! Wish it had been a more 'traditional' version that includes a whole year's wages instead of 3 Quarters worth. Surprised we were even included in the whole thing anyway, given the current negotiations climate! It would be nice to ditch the whole pay band system in favor of just plain old good pay, and get a decent profit sharing kicker like most reputable places.

At 31 I would not expect anything. That is younger than the average for most classes. It really opens you up to VBD. At your age if you come here you need to do so knowing that any base, including VBD, is a real possibility.

Yeah. I'm going there open minded. I just want to get the job first, I'll worry about the base afterwards. And as far as the airplane I'd rather get the MD, that way I can upgrade quick and start making some cash. Thanks

That's the right mindset. You never know what is coming for the class drop so as long as you open to all options you will be good.
