Question for anyone with the insight. Started my 121 career one year ago at Envoy and have been "promised" around a 6 year flow to American. Initially chose this route because I live near DFW and I absolutley want to continue to drive to work as an airline pilot. My wife however is from the Tampa (Sarasota) area and all of her friends and family are there. Here social life and said relationships are much more important to her than anything holding me here in DFW. That being said, is it completly stupid to consider coming to Allegiant at some point? Assuming a long term/retire one day from, type career move. Obviously I would want to be based out of PIE or PGD to even make it worth considering. I know this is opinion based because you would have to know what is more important to us between QOL at work vs QOL where you live, but if anyone want to weigh in feel free.

There are lots of people who are at Allegiant as a career move. Being home every night with day trips is amazing for me, but it is not for everyone. If you are young, you are leaving a lot of money on the table by not going to a legacy. For me, the QOL at home is worth it.

PGD is a pretty junior base for FO's, you would probably get that no problem right out of training. PIE is a little more senior but fairly large, if you couldn't get it right out of training, probably within 6 months. This all assumes of course you get the airbus. We have 2 MD80 bases left, SFB and LAS.

With that being said, there’s no such thing as a guarantee, BUT I’d *almost* guarantee there to never be any LAS 80 slots avail to new hires again. I think we’d all be very surprised to see any 80 slots ever appear again(if they did, it would have to be SFB or VBD), especially since the classes have been pushed back a few months.
