I was hired with significantly less than 3000 TT (mix of mil/121) but more than you have. There is a guy in the class after me with all civ time and less TT than I had.

Pretty sure it's a case by case basis. However, if you have less than minimums, it wouldn't hurt to go to a meet and greet so that you get some face time...

It's like the ultimate form of verbal humiliation.
How can kit darby and his alikes (flight schools, regionals etc) be so out of touch with reality!?!
Are they really just gonna go on with this gibberish without ever being held accountable?
First, thanks Skydiasater and Tom11011 for reasonable answers both probably true.I agree with the above post.pilot shortage:what a joke.My qualifications are more than adequate to sling gear as a F/O.Yet as Tom quoted probably wasent kicked out by a computer but probably a human.Maybe age..maybe too much Airbus time already...maybe race,sex..who knows?Point is pilot shortage its not. They can still be very very picky.

I think the flavor of the month right now at Allegiant and maybe other LCC's is 2500-5000 hours. They don't want too much or too little. Lot of highly qualified people with tons of hours turned away, I see this as a repeating pattern here on these forums. They may feel you will not be happy being FO for someone with less experience than you have.

I'd say the majority of captains at Allegiant have over 10000 hours TT.

Captains yes..F/O's probably not.I have considerable more time than that and PIC on the 320.I just thought Allegiant looked like a good opportunity, maybe just 3 or 4 years in the right seat. Not many if any places you can do that.Being a F/O that short of time would not be a problem.Oh well ...it is what it is.

I don't think upgrade will be that short for much longer. I think they've hired all the guys they will need to upgrade already. COOs growth plan had the pilot group topping out around 1000 +/- 100. How many guys are on property currently? Your only hope of a quick upgrade is take a very junior base but I still think anyone hired in the last few months or later will be sorely disappointed with the length of upgrade.

Since it seems like most of your trips are day trips, would it be smart for a new guy to bid VBD until they could move (4-5 yrs) to a domicile? Can someone explain the perks or issues of VBD. Thanks

If you plan to commute, you will probably not be happy here. Even if you get into a base that has good schedules, most are still not airports that are served by any other airline with the exception of a few.

I recommend people who live in a city that Allegiant has a solid permanent base to apply.

Thanks, that seems like the sentiment of most of this thread, I just didn't know if bidding VDB would change that view.
