Allegiant Air
#3911
For those applying to Allegiant. The day after the TA was announced the applications submitted to Allegiant Jumped way up. That was before anyone even had seen what we got. Now that its out there and now a contract. The interest in working at Allegiant has at least doubled since prior to TA announces. With that the Average applicant qualifications has gone up. What will it take to get on will likely take a interview cycle or two to find out. I would say the Meet and Greats and Job fairs just got a lot more important. Prior to the TA Allegiant was hunting for pilots now they are selecting pilots.

Submitted application online and no luck so i went to a career fair about 4 days later got an email to do the video interview. It asks 8 questions that you just record your answers with a webcam. You can review and retry 3 times. Not hard questions just getting to know you type stuff. 4 days later I got an invite to Vegas for an in person interview. The interview is tomorrow so wish me luck.

This may sound odd since most people want the A320, but I would actually prefer to fly the MD80 over the Airbus at first. It is a much more challenging aircraft that one can use to build upon an already established well of previous turbojet/prop experience. Is there any chance of someone being given the option to select that airframe before it makes its exit in 2019?
Since the April class all of the classes of between 10 and 16 people have been for a single aircraft. IE all MD-80 (April) or all Airbus (May, June and July). There is rumor that the August class will be a mix of MD-80 and Airbus. If that happens you will bid by seniority for the aircraft. Seniority is now assigned per the contract by the last 4 of your SSN (lowest is senior) vs. oldest birth date which was what it was previously.

Congrats, it's nice to see people that really want to be here. Welcome!
Aug 14 hire but SFB is a senior base. Most of the CA's there are on the younger side and not retiring anytime soon or leaving. In fact there were about 4 CA's based in SFB that recently turned down AA recall. I don't see much sfb growth either until the airport gets expanded because the gates are getting maxed out. I think a 6+ year upgrade there is more realistic for a new hire today.

There's currently 10 LAS MD-80 FO vacancies on the August bid, the august class will be included with this bid and since there aren't any airbus guys that will bid LAS MD-80 the class will most likely be stuck with that and the remainder will probably be airbus.
