Allegiant Air

From what I've been told, the "competitive mins" have come down quite a bit. Not too long ago the average interviewee had 6-6500TT, plenty of multi-pic and 121 experience. Now it's down to 3500-4000 on average. If you're interested, definitely go to a fair/meet and greet and don't worry about your time unless the biggest thing you've flown is a Seminole.
As far as working conditions, listen to both the good and the bad on here. Both views are spot on. Allegiant is like multiple little airlines. Your life as a AB pilot on the east coast is vastly different then say OAK which is different then being a FO on the 80 in LAS which is different then IWA... Yes, I know you could say the same about any airline but it's crazy here. What aircraft and base you're on/in is the difference between night and day.
I've been here for quite some time. I've been based as far east as you can go, as far west and points in between. I've been senior and lived a work life better then I could have ever imagined and have been thrown down with the maggots trying to keep the shotgun barrel out of my mouth. You have questions, feel free to ask. I'll give it to you straight.

All that being said...I've been lurking for awhile but I like the potential of the company and the basing. I live in Pensacola, Fl and am leery about a S Fl commute as that is what I'd want. From what I've read it would appear I'd be riding the pain train. Is it better than a regional if that is my commute (would pay make it worth it)? Thoughts?
Also, although FL is junior, guys do get sent out west sometimes. If you get the MD-80 you'll be a VBD (constantly TDY'd FO).
Take our hourly rates and assume min guarantee (70) hours every month. Some months you will break it and make money, but others you definitely won't by design. As the AE guys are familiar with this place is big on "line balancing."

If you plan on commuting to any base, from anywhere expect NOT to be home much. As has been said many times, this is NOT a commuter friendly airline unless you are super senior and even then it may not work. The only hope of a decent quality of life is living in base and even that is in the eye of the beholder. Lots of single days off or Tues/Wed and the occasional Saturday.

Just to add: next month (Nov) the MD80 CA and FO bottom schedules are:
5:00am or so start on day 1; 22:30pm finish on your next day before a day off.
Then; 5:00am start after your one (or maybe 2 at best) days off.
How do I know? Because it's far better utilization of a staff member if I can start them as early as possible on day one, and hold them as late as possible on their last day; then, give them one day off, and start early again. Great idea, and it will happen for Nov. and no.....I'm far....far....from management!

Don't count on that 100%. I've had everything done lickety-split before and I've also had just the opposite happen. When I used to be in the VBD base I had to fight tooth and nail to get them to buy me my monthly ticket home. One time they did it on the wrong day and then refused to change it because it was too expensive (it was they're fault, not mine). Another time they refused to do it at all (long story).
Also, MOST of our hotels are NOT suites. The only ones I've been to that have this are FLL, BLI, and LAS. The rest were regular hotel rooms.
I'm not going to get into a spat with anyone but if you've never been TDY'd you don't really know this company. Don't get me wrong I don't wish the TDY on anyone that doesn't want it. But living in base on the AB and not being TDY'd (like I suspect some of the pro-G4 guys on here are) is like working for a totally different company than having been TDY'd all over the country on the MD-80.

I've definitely heard the same thing from others. Hopefully you don't have to go through that again. As to the AB vs. MD80 lifestyles, I couldn't agree more. Complete opposites, with the AB operation being way better and far more relaxing.
Regarding the hiring mins, I had around 5,500TT, 1,100PIC, prior part 121 experience (regionals). Phone interview to class date was between 30-45 days. Definitely read the thread (and the old one if you find it) as there is a lot of great info and guys that can provide more details.
Take care fellas!

There's one on the bus in SFB. Start at 1505 on 11/5 SFB-RDU-SAN-RDU-SFB-CHA-SFB ends at 2218 on 11/8. Looks like no duty on 11/6 and an R1130 in SAN on 11/7 going by the shading on the R1130. 16.27 block and 22.35 duty. Nice of them to throw that CHA turn onto the end of the charter.

It's even more than better utilization. You will be on RSV for 5 days at a time before a day off. The RSV times are usually 0400-1600 and 1000-2200. Part 117 doesn't allow for 5 starts in a row before 0600 so you get 2x0400 and 3x1000. Always start with a 0400 RSV and end with a 1000.
