Actually, the guy had it correct.

"It's" is solely a contraction of "it is."

"Its" is the possessive of "it."

Just re-read his post, and you are in fact correct. Not sure why I immediately saw "it's". Self-nominating for Tool of the Day. Turd sandwich, party of one!

You actually did see it that way...I corrected it before I saw your post correcting me.

So, I am a proud to say that I am still the sole possessor of "tool of the day."

I don't mind....now I can get some sleep!

I just submitted an app. Wondering if I can get some constructive feedback on whether I'm competitive or not?

Prior AF w/ 2500 TT.
2200ish Military Jet Time
2000ish PIC Jet Time
1100 Multi Engine Jet (T37) and 900 Single Engine Jet (F16)

Took a 9 year hiatus from flying to run my own business which I've put on the back burner to return to flying.

Within the last 12 months...

Took the ATP Cert Course and got ATP.
Got a B737 Type.
Have flown about 300 hours, mostly in Single Engine Prop. About 30 Hours in ME Prop. Almost all of this time as an instructor.

My worry is the 9 years away may kill my app? Any feedback on this? I realize jumping into a regional would be a great way to get spun back up and competitive, but would really like to get on with Allegiant if possible as LAS is close, otherwise I'd be a commuter, which is doable, just not preferred.

Thanks for the feedback...

You got me on the question mark! You feel better about yourself now?

Go to a meet and greet. Plenty of guys have taken multiple year breaks and have been hired. You will be offered an interview and class within 2 weeks. I'm guessing they are trying to fill the Oct 19th class still. After a year or less you will get picked up by SW.

Do you live in one of our bases?

You have a decent resume for sure, but there's a reason this thread is full of drama, I'd consider that before coming here. I could only advise it if you live in one of our junior bases in Florida or Oakland. You make more money here than at a regional, but at the expense of virtually everything else.

I'm not sure what your business is? But if it pays good money and offers a lot of time at home I'd just stay with it until somewhere better calls. Working at this company will exhaust you, from the MX issues, to getting the company to deadhead you, to fighting with payroll because of your inaccurate paycheck. They don't treat they're people well and you won't get much time off if you don't live in base. And if you can't hold the base where you live? (LAS, IWA, BLI, and FLL are more senior) Then you will be TDY'd somewhere else, and again, won't see home much. It will take the enjoyment out of flying, trust me.

Good Luck, I'm happy to answer any of your questions if you PM me.

Meet and greet as in a job fair? If they are trying to fill Oct class I'd love to be able to talk to someone asap...unless I misunderstand what you mean by "meet and greet".

Either way...thanks for the advice and response. These forums are kind of brutal and it's refreshing to be able to get useful feedback.

Yeah, they have been sending CPs out on the road to do one on ones to fill classes versuses the traditional pull an app, phone interview, in person interview. I'm not sure exactly where it's listed they are going to be next but doing a search for airline job fairs may get you started.
