Not so the case for AAY. AAY profited(I believe the only US registered airline) after 9/11 due to it's business model. Ex-CFO/President A.L. actually said in my indoc a few years back, while explaining our business model, that while he doesn't wish for another 9/11, AAY benefits when the industry faces times like those.

Also a good reason why we should be very well paid and never, ever accept a concessionary contract or settle for our lousy banded pay system.

The customers come to us, people still want to vacation even during recession. Those who used to fly united or delta will roll the dice and buy a $59 ticket to Punta Gorda instead of Grand Cayman.
