Let's see. YOU don't/nor have ever worked at Allegiant, yet you are going to say that you know more about what pilots there really think (and the numbers of pi%%ed off people) because you have a friend who has been there less than a year. Seriously?!? Plus, the fact that he has been there less than a year, yet already has moved up the FO list in base quickly, should tell you something about how much people want to stay at Allegiant...

As someone who actually HAS worked there as a pilot, I count myself lucky to have gotten out when I did (nearly 4 years ago). I saw it deteriorating then, and it's only gotten worse, according to my friends who have been there MUCH longer than several years.

You are entitled to your opinion, just like anyone else. But don't discredit others who actually have been there, and done that, to the topic in question, based on second-hand info from a relative new-hire (and don't we all see things rosy for some time as a new hire anywhere?).

Are there 'happy' pilots at Allegiant? Sure, I bet there is. I'll let you know when I find one. There are quite a few people posting about the many issues at Allegiant, including specific examples. They are not exaggerated. If someone chooses to come here, that's fine (although, in my opinion, a poor decision) - but, it's only fair that everyone who applies gets an idea of what they're getting into.

Would you go to Great Lakes? If you balk at that idea, you probably shouldn't come here. We're Great Lakes, with jets. Except Great Lakes has a (better) contract. And I can say that, having worked there.

You must be referring to me as one of the supposed three who may or may not work here. You’re confusing observation with pessimism. You would never know me as anything other than the happy face I display everyday at work. I will let the facts speak for themselves: Post our CEOs love letter, Teamsters are voted in by a clear majority. Take a look at that letter, it will give you an accurate representation of how we are viewed. Have you ever heard of a CEO using that kind of language directed to his pilots in an open letter? Why would an overwhelming majority bring a union into this supposed happy place?

Attrition starting to heat up, most recently to United, SWA, and Alaska. MX, have you heard of our recent and past air returns? For an airline this size? Where did this emt come from? Valuejet. Study the history of that airline, the similarities are shocking. To this day, they take no responsibility. Read the NTSB report. What did they do afterwards; Golden Parachute, wash, rinse, repeat. A training department that the faa evidently felt is lacking, i.e. it was shut down for a time last winter.

Singling out the few that are happy with the status quo, is reminiscent of the time I spent at the regionals. So long as it’s not my cow getting gored, I’m ok. What about the commuters who aren’t ok with it? What about the people who never intended to be commuters, i.e. forced tdy? Your number of friends who are happy with it, are in the minority.

Wow, a new hire who’s happy as a clam and cant see the forest for the trees. Imagine that. I would venture to say this new guy hasn’t been through one of our interrogations yet? Oops, my bad, I meant to say “Safety-Briefings”. Do you know what I am referring to? Has your friend requested a PTO for his upcoming wedding yet? Good luck. I hope he’s happy with those 10 days off, completely dictated by the company, via an illegal change of status quo. Do you know what I am referring to? Is he happy as a clam with our pathetic 401k match? What he hasn’t thought that far ahead? I get it, just happy to get out of the regionals.

Where does one begin with that. Imagine an airplane that has been around since Howard Hughes. And they're still hunting around for the manual. From where I sit, there has been quite a bit of looking the other way. Only last year, someone wouldn’t look the other way anymore. Its like trying to walk through a carwash with powered toaster in your hands. Good luck.

The short version:

Training pay is $500/week. No hotel room is provided, you are on your own.

The training department is not adversarial. Incompetent is more the word that comes to mind.

Benefits, 401k match of 50% of the first 6% you contribute. Insurance? Not really. It's an HSA plan. It's sort of insurance and sort of not.

Schedules: That's a biggie. They suck. Seniority doesn't matter. Random days off, random reserve days, a lot of single days off, a lot of TDY (depending on where you are based), can't trade or drop due to no staffing, but you could fly 105 hours a month.


Rumor has it the hotel and training pay may have changed, but I don't know if it's true or not.

Anyone heard anything about a cvg base? Also is there any options for commuters?

Absalutely there are options. Succumbing to the stress that uncommutable schedules will impose on your life, and therefore performing due diligence in accordance with FAR guidelines.

I have not heard anything about a cvg base. I would caution coming here for any small/new base opening. Just ask our Grand Rapids crews who got conned into voluntarily bidding it.

wow, harsh. If it was so bad why are you still there? Not trying to get into a ****ing match. My 12/13 friend was just an example. I also have an 8 yr CA friend there who is happy.
